Are they better people than non-mormons overall? The origins of their religion is just beyond laughable, but does it produce good fruit?
>>18452794If most of their women are virgins by 18, then I'd say yeah. You can judge a religion by how much self-discipline their women practice.
>>18452795>If most of their women are virgins by 18Does soaking count as losing your virginity?
>>18452794The vast majority of Mormons I have seen are in good shape, smile, have good teeth and posture, are wealthy and generally pleasant and content. Something they are doing works.
yea actually
>>18452813I cann't imagine how much it made the anti-communist catholic glowies seethe when they were deemed no longer useful with the fall of the USSR lol
Mormons are interesting because their religion is just objectively not true, their holy book got thoroughly destroyed by archaeology, genetics and linguistics, and not in a "these events didn't happen in this exact way but you can tell they were inspired on real things" like it's the case for the Old Testament, but rather in a "this was all clearly made up by some 19th century hick and not a single shred of it is based on reality" way. And yet they still truck along, by their own admission on feelings and faith alone. But really, at the end of the day it's just an excuse to continue being a tight knit conservative community that rules over its own US state.
>>18452794>but does it produce good fruit? You're too dumb to really realize that... that and you don't believe in God so youre also blind to the problem. For example, they are basically a Muslim cult with a """christian""" skin. Women are relegated to a secondary position and they are okay with men having multiple wives because "that's better than them living in poverty". So like >>184534048 saidIts just an excuse to have a masonry offshoot control their own territory.
No. They're the worst liars I ever met.Mormons in the workplace and on their own turf and just doing their thing here and there are great. But OP posted LDS' missionaries and the missionaries are disgusting, trespassing, sociopathic liars. Maybe the missionary push is just to get their evil out of their system abroad, like Rumspringa for Amish.
>>18453404I kinda feel like this holds for the old Christian Gnostics as well. It all depended on the Celestial Sphere theory of layered heavens over the central Earth. Christianity survived because the mainline proto-orthodox had the drag-out debate over the Seven Heavens, or the Flat Earth. Augustine put it to bed by pointing out none of that shit even featured in the Creed, therefore didn't matter to Good Friday, Easter, and the Eucharist.
>>18452794I thought this was a very interesting video, from a former Mormon. Talks about growing up religious, his mission in Sweden, and how he gradually grew apart from the church over time.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVrNVYBqxg8(his wife is kind of cringe though)
>>18452794The LDS church is full of pedos and rapists.
>>18453491I think most religious authorities tend to be. It's the ultimate reason people get in power.
>>18452795Vaginally, yesAnally, not so much
Not from what I've seen. In government positions I've seen them favor other mormons in hiring. I've seen them lie, cheat and steal.
>>18453275I actually am friends with a guy raised LDS. something I noticed. They never have a mean bone in their body and seem very cordial and well spoken.
>>18453491Imagine being this much of a feminist pearl-clutcher.
>>18453424>Women are relegated to a secondary positionNot seeing the problem here, Lilith
>>18453497>It's the ultimate reason people get in power.I'd agree with that. All of human civilization, religion, war, culture, government, even going back to the invention of agriculture has all been done for the purpose of creating hierarchies so people on top have access to the bodies of children for sexual pleasure. Once you understand that human history begins to make sense. Marx was wrong to say all conflict is economic. All conflict is about having sex with children.
>>18453404Encouraging and maintaining a tight-knit community is just good and healthy, regardless of how goofy the dogma behind it is.The LDS church is in two halves: the people, and the church organization. The people trust the organization and are often decently devout. The organization is fully for profit, keeps all the power limited to a few hundred ultra-wealthy families, and does an excellent job of not pissing off their base.
>>18452794The biggest criticism ex-Mormons make is #1: The religion is different from mainstream Christianity (omg how awful) and #2: that their dads didn't let them go out and be sluts like all the other girls. Mormons are significantly better people on average and most of societies criticisms of them relate to that.
>>18453590>The religion is different from mainstream Christianity (omg how awful)I do think the more culty stuff like the temple rituals is pretty dumb. Secret handshakes to get into heaven, seriously?
>>18453605Objectively speaking, is it really that much weirder than say Catholics believing that some wine and piece of wafer is the literal body and blood of God and that we must consume his blood and flesh to commune with him? Not really. Every religion is full of really weird shit. People are just more accustomed to the weird shit in mainstream religions.
>>18453621I feel it's less dumb just by virtue of being old as fuck and from a completely different, more obscure, human era. Mormonism just falls apart under the smallest scrutinity.
>>18453590>that their dads didn't let them go out and be sluts like all the other girlsPart of the deal involves letting your daughter talk to the middle-aged bishop in a closed room (no confessional booth) if she's masturbating or sleeping around. The same goes for your wife.
>>18452813>guys who are clean, sober and don't have casual sex are valued by intelligence agencies No way!
>>18453743It's fundamentally the same as a Catholic confession in every way, only that you don't have to go over every single sin you did, just a select few related to temple recommends.
>>18452794They gave us semi-decent gay porn plotlines, I'll give them that.
>>18453746Except that a Catholic priest will have at least a decade of theological training, while a bishop can be a random person who just arrived at the church if the other leaders feel "inspired" to call him.
>>18453765And yet those highly trained priests are the same ones with the global child rape scandals. Besides, what difference does it make in relation to the task at hand? Which is judging temple worthiness for Mormons."Have you done xyz? When? Okay, you don't meet the criteria for a temple recommend". It's not as crazy as you make it out to be in your head.
>>18453772>those highly trained priests are the same ones with the global child rape scandalsThe LDS Church also has skeletons in its closet regarding this. I say it would be better if the sexuality of minors were regulated by parents or guardians, without confessions to clergy. >Besides, what difference does it make in relation to the task at hand? Lack of training leads to excessively diverse approaches from ward to ward. You might have a bishop who is completely protocol-driven, as your hypothetical example, and you might have another who asks about the details of the matter.>Which is judging temple worthiness for MormonsWorthiness in general. Otherwise, they wouldn't ask these things of children who are too young to go to the temple.>t's not as crazy as you make it out to be in your headI was a Momon for 18 years. I don't need to imagine anything.
>>18452794Most people have dirty minds and need their brains washed.
>>18453404Mormon theology is really interesting when you look beyond the surface, it's basically Hermeticism with a Christian veneer. The one eternal round stuff is fascinating.
>>18453545Mitt Romney ffs
>>18452794The denial of Christ could not be called good fruit
>>18453621>Objectively speaking, is it really that much weirder than...Yes it is. Mormon beliefs aren't based on symbolic meanings developed by philosophical and cultural paradigms that evolved over thousands of years. It's just a bunch of babble created by a 19th century conman with zero genuine sacred symbolism.
>>18454299Once again we reach the "old religion good because old, new religion bad because new" argument
Utah has the highest suicide rate.So... may of that what you will.
>>18452795>self-disciplinelmao you are just too insecure so you want women to just hold themselves from doing what they want, why? because it makes you feel bad?? poor little boo booWhat does nietzsche have to say on people like you who pass their own shortcomings and weaknesses as a virtue?Just say to the world that you can't fuck and you're so jealous you want people to stoop to your level
>>18452794they protect pedophiles
>>18452794They rewrote the book on gaslighting and how to use an institution to control your life with no escape
>>18454333It's actually Alaska, which it almost always is.
>>18452794>>18453404I love Mormonism because it shows how silly religion sounds once we have all the information about where it came from. The only reason that Christianity sounds less silly in comparison is because we simply don't have enough information and context about it's origins. But I guarantee if Christianity was born after the printing press we would find it as laughable as Mormonism.
>>18454381Look, tranny. Just do your family a favor and end it. Become a sad memory for them instead of a waking nightmare. They can put a beautiful bouquet of flowers at your grave with your dead name carved into the headstone. If I need to be lectured on virtue it won’t be from a mutilated human sewer.
>>18454437Well... in the continental U.S.
>>18453487I like the wife.
>>18454706her videos are very interesting, but she has a little more of the edgy atheist persona since she was such a full on true believer and is kind of bringing that same level of energy to being ex-mormonStill, her videos explaining Mormon temple rituals are nuts. I didn't know anything about this stuff before watching her videos, and thought they were like other Christians with just some Joseph Smith babble. Had no idea they had these ridiculous freemason inspired rituals as the center of their religion, and they keep it a big secret.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_eSubCKmGo
