>translates the bible

Makes you think.

Curious how Jesus never said to obsess over the bible, but explicitely told Peter to make a church and carry the message. Jews themselves mostly live by the Talmud (which was the oral tradition and din't get written down untule fairly recently).
If you equate christianity with the Bible you have a fairly retarded view of religiom

The relationship between the Reformation and atheism is very obvious. You shattered Christendom into a thousand pieces, and then spat on the scriptures once it no longer served your needs.
>>
>translates the Bible
>gives 0 instructions on how to interpret it
>10,000 Christian denominations spawn
I'm an atheist btw but if God was real and he isn't an evil fuck or a gay hippie New Age force or nature, Catholicism would be the correct answer given the existence of the Christian God.
>>
>>18452855
Again, correlation does not equal causation.
Protestant countries were extremely anti secular until very recently. This is a fact.
>>
>>18452828
They also eventually become atheist.

I let go of a ball and it fell to the ground. I can say gravity caused it, or alternatively I could say it's just a correlation and ignore the facts. Face it, unlike the Americans who held onto their Protestant traditions to have a sense of communities, Protestantism in Europe was a rebellion against Christendom, and now God is punishing them for their sinfulness.

The Church existed before the gospels

Yeah, that's how the world tends to work, there are causes and effects. Catholic countries have the internet, went through the Industrial Revolution, have secular democracies, and somehow the main distinction is that the Protestant ones are all now atheist nightmares.

Are you stupid or what? Catholic countries are some of the most backwards shitholes on the planet, even in Europe. Not to mention the most degenerate. And again I repeat, Protestant countries were extremely anti secular until very recently. FACT

And that's how the gnostic heretics are still in the running for the one trve chvrch against the catholics despite their centuries-long near-total absence from the scene of Christendom.

Scripture itself is not in favor of the chaos that results from a million independent interpretations.

Heresy wasn't exactly novel at that point and Northern Germany specifically was full of free minded Christians even before he made his legendary shitpost.

The difference was that he had a lot of the nobility on his side and that the crusader movement was truly dead.

The most atheist country in your image became organically protestant and was then forced back into catholicism by the Habsburgs. Mass secularization ensued.

Ngl heterodox groups were already emerging before the western schism. The Church was undergoing turbulence long before the pope moved to Avignon.

By “church” are you referring to the dozens of different communities that held similar, but materially different beliefs until the proto-orthodox church came decades later to systematize and establish core beliefs?

Isn't it strange how, at one point or the other. All papist states came crawling and begging for protestant aid?
From Europe to the America's, papists have proven incapable of handling their own affairs, regularly requiring guidance from their protestant betters.

>>
>>18452852
There isn’t even a correlation, secularism is even more rampant in historically Romanist countries (e.g. Italy) and the most Christian countries today are either historically Protestant (USA) or increasingly Protestant (LatAm). There is literally no logical connection between Protestantism and secularism, the entire premise of the argument is that because secularism arose posterior in time to the Reformation it must therefore have been responsible. The same logic will prove Martin Luther to be personally responsible whenever you stub your toe.
