What was the western plan to deal with the Soviet Union if the Nazis didn’t rise up for an ideological holy war against them? The Soviets would has grown stronger, absorbed Eastern Europe… what exactly would the western/central european and US response be?Assume Germany just remains democratic, with Weimar Germany ultimately not going nazi but probably electing liberal nationalists, respecting most of the treaty of Versailles while renegotiating parts of it. Presumably Germany would grab their lost polish territory and possibly parts of west Poland once the Soviets invade it just so east Prussia isn’t stranded in the middle of soviet territory At what point do the west go to war with the Soviets, if ever? You have to assume that any counties the Soviets aren’t directly annexing that they border with, they’re actively arming and supplying communist rebels to try and depose their governments (hence this Weimar Germany’s ultimate crackdown on communist party etc after some communist coup attempt)
>>18455010Why should America care if the Soviets took eastern Europe? That would only put Western Europe further into the American sphere of influence. And France had always been planning to divide up central Europe between themselves and Russia. The only Western country that would object would be England because a powerful USSR would threaten India
