Was Jesus' appearance historically documented? There seems to be a campaign to portray him as a brown schizophrenic or some kind of mongrel and attack his image.I was under the impression that his pale skin, beard and long hair were well documented by his peers, but I can't actually find any resources.
>>18455110He was a 1st century Levantine man. Do you seriously think he looked white? >There seems to be a campaign to portray him as a brown schizophrenic or some kind of mongrel and attack his image.I know what image you're referring to, and it's not meant to depict Jesus specifically. Jesus was probably better looking and more charismatic than that image implies, he had to be, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to draw in followers for his teachings and stand out from the other schizos on the streets of Jerusalem.
>>18455113>Do you seriously think he looked white?I was under the impression that this an established fact.
>>18455110You die. You go to heaven. Jesus Himself is there to greet you, His arms spread wide to embrace you forever. He is black. Pitch black. The blackest nigger you ever saw. With dreadlocks also.Do you reject Him?
>>18455110The most realistic historical reconstruction of Christ can be rebuild thanks to comparative ethnology, and reconstruction with skulls and remains from roman-age Judea of the most prominent phenotypes found
>>18455113>He was a 1st century Levantine man. Do you seriously think he looked white?Levantines today are the whitest-passing MENA people. 2000 years ago when the greek blood was more prominent than the arabic one likely even slighter White than today
>>18455110No lol. The earliest depictions of Jesus portray Him as a clean-shaven man with short hair (because the Romans ignorantly assumed He looked just like them, which happens in every culture around the world).
>>18455124If someone posted a picture of a random person from the Levant you'd start hooting Jeet memes.
>>18455121Those depictions are not from classical antiquity btw they are early medieval at the earliest
>>18455110>Was Jesus' appearance historically documented? No, none of the 1st century sources describe his appearance, not even if he had a beard. Any "facial reconstruction" is guesswork. Since he was a commoner from Galilee, you'd want to look at commoner Levantine people who have ancestry in the area since before the 1st century AD.At most you can say he was probably olive skinned, or tanned due to be a workman (tekton) and travelling preacher, and he most likely had dark hair and dark eyes since they're the most common phenotypes in the region. This image >>18455121 isn't too bad but ruins it by having an artist's rendering which does a lot of guessing, e.g. about facial structure which we have no way of knowing about.
>>18455113See: >>18455121>>18455124Reminder that there've been several massive Arab conquests on the Near East since Jesus' time. In all likelihood, Jesus' features looked mostly Caucasian, perhaps with a slightly darker complexion than Europeans. IME such people range from totally white-looking to totally Arab-looking, but are mostly in-between, which suggests that the earlier populations looked mostly white.
>>18455155>No, see, actually, Jesus looked white like me! LIKE ME!!!Same question >>18455119 to you.
>>18455158Disingenuous question but the answer is no.
>>18455162>but the answer is no.NTA but then why even care what race Jesus was? It doesn't really seem relevant except maybe from a purely secular, historical context.
>>18455110There is a picture of him in the archive.
>>18455164They are desperate to make everyone believe Jesus was contaminated with the dark taint of hell-spawned demons by asserting there was darkness in him, but that contradicts the Word.
>>18455164I simply stated the case as it appears to me. At the end of the day it's ultimately not relevant, although there is a certain esoteric intrigue about it. If I look more like the main character of history, great. If not, that's okay too.
