Why did Myanmar fail?
>>
>>18456503
Horrible biography, political instability, ethnic patchwork nonsense.
>>
>>18456516
Why couldn't they just unite all the ethnic groups behind religion like Afghanistan?
>>
>>18456521
They tried with Rohingya massacres and still failed
>>
>>18456521
Afghanistan had a unifying enemy so fucking evil and brutal (the american subhuman golems) that the tribes sincerely understood solidarity amongst themselves was a better alternative to being slaves and deer to american and jewish forces. Myanmar didn't have that, the people there hates each more than their externa enemies.

A fair number of ethnic minorities there were Christianized by the Brits, so while going turbo-Buddhist would reduce that issue it wouldn't eliminate it
plus, y'know, a military which ideologically wants Bama supremacy

least hysterical muslim

Not all the minorities are Buddhist. IIRC a few are recent converts to Christianity, and some are muslim. But the main reason is that the army just wouldn't give up on the overt supremacy of ethnic Bama over everyone else. As opposed to the somewhat veiled status of Pashtuns in the Taliban.

Aborted at birth. A combination of shitty decisions, things beyond their control, and Chinese shenanigans.

1948: Burmese Independence.
>Burma: "Hmm Today I will try to implement a very decentralized form of government in a region historically known to need strong kings bullying mountain tribes around."
>"Oh no all my ethnicities are rebelling, maybe massacres & authoritarianism will discipline them."
>"Oh no they are angrier."

1949 End of Chinese Civil War.
>KMT Forces in Yunnan flee into Burma to continue fighting the CCP from there.
>"Hello KMT, can you please fuck off from my country and fight elsewhere? We're a sovereign natio-
>The KMT seizes an entire Burmese Province.
>The KMT enslaves local tribes to grow Opium to sell to the international drug trade in exchange for weapons.
>The KMT gives free guns to the rebelling minorities to keep the Burmese Government distracted.
>the KMT launches attacks in to PRChina dragging the reds into your mess.
>The KMT creates a heavily armed literal Narcostate in your newborn state.

1949-1960.
>"Hello Britain, we need help telling the Chinese to fuck off."
>Not Britain's Problem anymore, sorry.
>"Hello America, we need help telling the Chinese to fuck off."
>LMAO the CIA is the KMT's main distributor of their drugs and gets weapons from them.
>"Hey Red China, sorry for murdering commies & Chinese Burmese minorities. Can you help us get rid of the KMT?"
>They agree to a joint op & drives away the KMT from Burma, but they leave so many weapons & drugs behind it empowers all the rebel minorities to rebel even harder.
>Also the CCP empowered the local communist party to continue existing.
>Surviving KMT soldiers who failed to evacuate to Taiwan become gangsters and create the now infamous Golden Triangle Drug Trade network.
