How bad was the British Colonisation of India?
It was the greatest thing that happened to India and the worst for the rest of the world
>>18456842>India experienced deindustrialisation and cessation of various craft industries under British rule,[9] which along with fast economic and population growth in the Western world, resulted in India's share of the world economy declining from 23% in 1700 to 4.2% in 1950,[10] and its share of global industrial output declining from 23% in 1750 to 2% in 1900.[9] Due to its ancient history as a trading zone and later its colonial status, colonial India remained economically integrated with the world, with high levels of trade, investment and migration.[11]
>>18456842Usual mixed bag of being colonized by a ruthless but superior civilization. They got dragged centuries into the future technologically and socially, but both had monkey-with-a-gun style side effects. They were also oppressed and humiliated by their increasingly corrupt and incompetent overlords as time went on, which caused various additional problems.>>18456897>industryNeedless to say, 1700s India had no coal-powered factories to deindustrialize. They spun beautiful fabrics by hand and this was largely wiped out by the industrial revolution, same as everywhere else.
>>18456897My favourite thing about that article is the giant banner saying the article needs further rewriting because its written entirely in Indian Vernacular English.
>>18456923India was the largest economy in the world, Britain was a shitty cold island suffering from constant famines and epidemics because they still hadn’t worked out sanitation systems in the 1700s and just threw their shit on the streetsIt wasn’t random that euroaches were willing to sail halfway across the world to trade with Indians
>>18456842Not bad enough apparently.
>>18456939>just threw their shit on the streetscleaning is for achhut
>>18456939Which parts of India were the richest? I always felt bad then Bengal had to hard carry the sub continent interms of wealth
