Was Douglas MacArthur Americas preeminent warlord? The guy was a veteran of the Banana Wars, the Philippine Wars, both World Wars and the Korean War. It seems like Patton is an overrated buffoon whos only like because retarded zoomers think he was a neo nazi or something
>>
He got embarrassed and humbled during the Korean War.
>>
>>18457638
He constantly lost focus. Nimitz was the real deal.
>>
>>18457638
He overstepped his authority when he made recommendations that actually would have solved America's problems as opposed to keeping the elaborate muttification financier game going
>>
>>18458951
>he got shitcanned by Truman for actually trying to win the war and kill commies as opposed to engaging in some stupid pseudo-realpolitik maneuvering
fixed that for you
>>
Literally the worst high ranking general this country ever produced. He was a total fucking moron.
>>
>>18459666
anon, if you know anything about the first half of the Korean War, you'd know that he seemingly accidentally did almost everything to NOT win, other than the Incheon. Macarthur was a narrowly-affordable movie star-esque propaganda tool during WWII. The US couldn't afford him anymore by Korea.

He was a great politican and a really bad general. I honestly think he was in the wrong line of work
>>
>>18459666
you mean when he was throwing a tantrum to nuke the chinks after they completly whipped his ass and made the mutts run away like king arthurs knights fighting the rabbit?
>>
>>18459735
>He was a great politican
anon...
>>
>>18459735
he wasn't a really bad general overall, that's why he was so controversial. He just aged really badly.
By all accounts he was a great divisional-level general in WW1 and most of his reforms/measures to modernize West Point in the '20s were ahead of the curve and very valuable in producing enough competent brass hats to staff the military through WW2 and the '50s.
By WWII his leadership during the initial Philippines campaign and after it was quite poor. Like i said, the only reason why Roosevelt didn't fire his ass in 1942 was because of the huge prestige and image he had amongst the American populace) and by Korea it was awful (except for one moment of genius during Incheon)
>>
>>18457638
>the ridiculous pipe and unofficial "Field Marshall" hat
lulz. Did he really want to use tactical nukes in Korea?
>>

>By WWII his leadership during the initial Philippines campaign and after it was quite poor
Don't know a lot about this. What were his fuckups in the Philippines?
>>
Regular reminder that a quirky fashion accessory is not a replacement for a personality.

the US Army Green Book on the fall of the Philippines is a great read that lays out all of the reasons why MacArthur’s direction of the 1941 campaign was exceptionally stupid.
The worst part is that it was only his first huge fuckup involving the Philippines. His second huge fuckup was deciding to go back in 1944 and sending the Sixth Army on an almost pointless 8-month slog through it again in 1944-45. Sure, it killed half a million Japanese troops but they could have gone nowhere and accomplished nothing if they had just been bypassed in favour of landing only on Palawan and then using it to hop to landing on Formosa, which almost everybody (on both sides) agreed was way more important concerning island-hopping up towards the Home Islands.

Hey, Satan, how about winning a presidency for a change?
>>
>>18459719
Patton would have won Korea if he wasn't assassinated
>>
>that chink movie that makes him look like an anime villain
>>
>>18457638
He literally presided over americas number 1 and 2 worst military defeats. And in the phillipines he ignored orders to the point if he didnt have his own press corps he would have been court martialed.
His press corps was his only real move. He was an incompetent general.
>>
>>18459666
Being retarded isnt something to be proud of.
You shouldnt share this,
MacAuthur is the biggest reason outside china there is a north korea.
>>
>>18459908
There are multiple books about how retarded he was. Just to start he refused orders to launch his airforce, and so let the japanese destroy the entire thing on the ground.
