do you think they would like anime and otakus?
Yeah. The Jap love of cute shit didn't start in 1945.
>>18457734Your mom should aborted you.
>>18457734i suppose these cats are cute too.
>>18457734do you think tojo would like anime?
>>18457722i don't think so, i think they would be traumatized if they came to today. even the concept of television or photograpsh would blow their mind. they wouldn't ahve time to appreciate it all, until they adjusted. maybe eventually they would like anime but there's a big initial hurdle. otakus might be seen as too weird because these people ahve no concept of someone being a fan of media at all. the closest thing might be a priest. but that's considered divine/morally good. the anime if they eventuallhy see it will just be seen as a game or entertainment. so they might look down on the otaku
>>18458478Nigga, they had shunga art. You're acting like Japs being sexually depraved is a new development.
Nobunaga for sure would, if only to piss off everyone in his inner circle. Hideyoshi would've found it amusing but less interesting than war or statecraft.Ieyasu would have condemned it and passed laws forbidding it while amassing a private collection of otaku merch.
Weren't most of those guys massive gooners?
>>18458888No? They had multiple concubines, why would they goon? Hideyoshi in particular fucked probably hundreds of women trying to produce an heir. Nobunaga had children, and Ieyasu had lots of children.
>>18458295You say that as if anime was invented after his demise. He probably saw a few anime himself
>>18458933Anime as we know it was invented after his demise, in the 1950s. The early animation industry in Japan was closer to Disney in character and output than anything recognizable as anime today. Tezuka hadn't yet revolutionized the industry to create the foundations of modern anime.
>>18458295>>18458933>>18458955He probably enjoyed a few manga though.
>>18458478>these people have no concept of someone being a fan of media at allcome the fuck on now
>>18458955Anime exist back in 1907
>>18458478>>18459002I'll go through them since this mischaracterization pissed me off. Of course all 3 were very busy with unifying/governing japan and all, but they were also cultural aficionados.Nobunaga was a rowdy and bawdy rebel in his youth, a proto-kabukimono, and enjoyed some of the more popular forms of theater in his day. He often quoted from the Kowakami play Azumori in particular. He was extremely famous for his unrivaled artwork collection, notably tea utensils but also paintings or poem scrolls. He was a giant westaboo who not only admired European technology/weapons but also aesthetics, especially chuuni shit like capes, hats, goblets (he was fond of gaudy flashy fashion in general)Hideyoshi was a renowned patron of the arts, and funded or promoted countless artists and literati. His personal obsession was dance/theater, avidly watching and performing in his favorite plays, even commissioning new plays about himself in heroic roles (self-insert fics if you will.) Besides that he also hosted and participated in poetry contests, and dedicated himself to traditional chinese/japanese literature for references. And of course he was a key promoter of the tea ceremony.Hideyoshi was also obsessed with women, occasionally daydreamed about historical/fictional beauties, and organized a famous cosplay hanami party with most of the notable women in the realm dressed as fictional characters.
>>18459124Ieyasu has this reputation as a dour, rigid, no fun allowed sperg, or a chud seething about degeneracy. He would have despised otaku for sure (he thought most people in his time were vapid, decadent fools too) But even he patronized what he considered acceptable entertainment including forms of theater and poetry. He enjoyed historical works like the Azuma Kagami as handbooks, compiled and printed many classic and modern works. He was also a health freak who famously studied pharmacology and grew and mixed his own medicine. Another low-key obsession was collecting and appraising incense (koudou, a popular pastime at the imperial court)All 3 by the way were very fond of go and shogi, with Ieyasu hosting national tournaments at his castle, organizing and funding game schools, and making his favorite player Minister of Go (that same guy was a favorite courtier of Nobunaga and Hideyoshi too.) All 3 were also fond of sumo, falconry, and blades of course (especially collecting them)
>>18459125I forgot another note about Ieyasu, his fondness for heike biwa performances. Those were usually played by blind men (biwa houshi) while singing about famous legends and histories, notably the Tale of Heike (which was largely composed/reworked by the founder of the style, and biwa houshi thus became charged with transmitting it) They had largely fallen out of fashion, but Ieyasu essentially revitalized the art form, notably by making his favored biwa player the head of the guild for all blind men in Japan (the Toudouza) and generously funding them.
They would probably like the medium itself, but not otakus
