If you were an Italian Irredentist, and you were given some kind of immortality and the ability to mind control the leadership of Italy from its unification onwards. How would you attempt to gain all its irredentist goals (and onwards to some “new Roman Empire” if you succeed in that)
>>18459896Italy was fucked by being too late and no resources like germoney
>>18459896Can you grow up and focus on things that matter?
>>18459896Giving up savoy was such a retard move, made them weak to invasion from France forever
>>18459905>he says in the history and humanities board
>>18459907>country named Savoy>gives up region of Savoywtf
>>18459896Build a strong railway ASAP, industrialise, connect the north and the south and don't let any part of Italy fall behind. Ignore Mussolini, keep the scientists, give Fermi free reign, he was a complete madman and would develop nukes first. Take Suez and that whole corridor while you have the nuke advantage, then push non-proliferation.
>>18459896give up and focus on developing the country and industrialise and don't get dragged into a pointless war for territorial expansion More land is nice but you have to be realistic about what you can actually achieve and with the rise of Nationilism and multiple nations claiming the same territory its impossible to create a nation that fully achieves its territorial goals without pissing of some neighbours and possibly creating a military conflict in the future There also no point in having land for the sake of having more landRussia is massive but majority of it is unhinabited tundra and most people live in the western parts of it so there's no real point in having all the extra landmass other than to gloat about lookinger bigger on a map
>>18460033>then push non-proliferation.The usa would never agree and they would just CIA brainwash all nations against Italy to fuck Italy over, nukes or not. The usa would also develop nukes and they are too far away for Italian nukes to do anything.
>>18460469This. Italy never should have gone on most of the wars it did. The only exception was maybe WW1 since it ultimately won and did get some land, but it was almost a complete disaster. And it only hurt Italian reputation. Italy’s wars and colonial ventures post-unification was all an attempt to sure up its bruised ego. It was ultimately pointless, and Italy would have been better off today by expending those resources to help internal development. It just wasn’t going to be able to stand toe-to-toe with Germany, France, Britain, etc. Maybe some opportunistic grabs here and there (they almost had Tunis for example), but sending people to die on a failed Ethiopian expedition wasn’t worth it.
>>18459896I just make sure Austria-Hungary survive and let them keep it core imperial territory. But maintain a neutral stance while providing support Germany with food and weapons.https://www.cambridge.org/core/books/abs/italy-the-least-of-the-great-powers/politics-of-friendship-italy-the-triple-entente-and-the-search-for-a-new-mediterranean-agreement-19111914/0BB640C16C42679C1B12C920BCBB98C9
>>18460522Wouldn't supporting Germany with foods and weapons lead to massive sanctions and some oopsie bombs being dropped on them? The allies bombed neutral and innocent nations all the time.
>>18459916Remember that republicanism a d socialism hostile to the Savoyard regime?
>>18460524This will make America not back the allies, same with invasions of Greece.
>>18459896By taking a position far to the left of the imperialistic liberal democrats of the late nineteenth century, a legitimate italian irredentism would have been as concerned as much with reviving and recreating some of the institutions and governmentality of the holy roman empire, especially in the context of like that is just the history of those communal institutions
