What are your thoughts on Mormons? Have you ever met one? What are they like? Do you think becoming a Mormon is worth it?
>>
>>18462921
They're equally as wacky a sci-fi cult as Scientology with their belief they'll one day be in charge of their own universes but nobody gives them the same level of shit because they've perfected projecting a dorky appearance in their proselytization.
>>
>>18462921
>What are your thoughts on Mormons?
They seem at least genuine in their outwardly friendly demeanor. If they can't sell you their religion they'll just make casual conversation.
>Have you ever met one?
They spent many years riding their bikes around my ghetto shithole neighborhood.
>Do you think becoming a Mormon is worth it?
No. They seem cult-like and honestly it just seems like Islam for white people.
>>
>>18462921
The regular church members are followers who vote for big brother and don't question their ridiculous church government, which is entirely for-profit and is an insular group of families that share wealth and church power.

The church has convenient revelations to keep up with changing culture (lets black people in during the civil rights era) and works primarily to maintain a tithing block. They import a lot of south american 3rdies and are isrul-first zionists.

The church gov is the 1st or 2nd largest private owner of US land.

>worth it
No, you will never work your way past bishop, and even getting that high is probably out of reach already - each ward elects a new bishop each year that is coincidentally the wealthiest guy in it.

In the LDS church, the amount of tithes you contribute determines how devout you are.

Amusingly, this trickles down to the regular people who, while superficially nice, are extremely money focused.

It's additionally amusing how the middle/lower class kids get called to be missionaries in south and central american shitholes, and the upper class kids get called to the nicest European countries. God sure works in mysterious ways.

my dad used to go to this Mormon church before he died of Covid a few years ago. wonder if he would have been there when this happened.

my dad made friends with these guys, they would ride around on bicycles, my dad invited them into our house. they were always nice.

the church gave us a lot of $$ to help us with bills. thousands of dollars. my dad was a loud mouth, shameless asshole.
>>
I think they are no crazier than other christians. But their is something gay about them, still.
>>
>>18462921
Most mormons are nice enough, but at the core of their religion is pure evil schizo bullshit and it was all built on a very obvious scam. For those reasons, I could never associate with it.
>>
>>18463044
Why are they nice then?
>>
>>18463056
Mormons have one thing going for them, which are generally close communities. Church-going folk are socialized in a certain way and are "nice."
>>
>>18463056
>>18463063
This, plus they're trained that way for evangelization purposes, and of course they really do believe that if they misbehave then they won't reap the benefits of salvation, and will suffer during the tribulation. I wasn't raised mormon but I was raised with the same mentality in a protestant church community, and was terrified of the rapture as a kid, so I get it.
>>
>>18463076
Im gonna rapture your ass
>>
>>18463086
I would really prefer if you didn't.
>>
>>18462921
Ex-Mormon. The theology sucks but the community is awesome, outside of YSA wards at least. YSA's can be too cliquey from my experience but family wards are great. I feel nostalgic about my time in the church and still think the people are amazing but lack the interest to pretend like I believe in the BS theology to return.
>>
They're all liars who use religion as a cover and use this program as a free fucking trip to another country
>>
>>18462921
Their faith is Abrahamic and therefore wrong, but I do think it's kinda cool that America has it's own widespread native religion which is even somewhat tied to the land itself.
AFAIK I've only ever personally met one Mormon, contrary to the stereotype he was a brown kid who lived in Florida. He was nice I guess, I didn't know him well.
>>
>>18463056
The truth is that you can't really help what religion you're born into, and most people are just gonna go with the flow and be nice or at least cordial to other people they meet, even if they're from other religions. The average Mormon was raised as one and even once they realize it's obvious bullshit invented by a conman, why go through the hassle of leaving and making Christmas dinner awkward when they could instead just become the equivalent of an "Easter/Christmas Catholic"? It's not like it will gain them anything or strike some mighty blow against the church. Think, when's the last time you met a Catholic/Protestant on the street and the first thing they said to you was "Burn in hell filthy papist/heretic!" instead of "Would you like fries with that?"
>>
>>18463237
>free fucking trip to another country
You know the parents have to pay for their kids missions right? It's not free.
>>
>>18463056
Being nice is nice.
>>
>>18463244
>Abrahamic
SAAAAAAAAAR
>>
I recently went on a trip to the national parks around St. George, Utah and it’s a trip to see women in those pastel prairie dresses in Costco pushing shopping carts with enough Kirkland chow to feed a dozen kids. Mainstream Mormons seem ultra normie but the polygamist fringes past and present are bonkers.
>>
>>18463426
>the polygamist fringes past and present are bonkers
Because they eat a lot of food?
>>
>>18463056
Mormon means "more good".
That is their motto. They want to be "more good". Sometimes the "will" to do something is all it takes, and if this is the definition of your religion, thats what people focus on, and the thing theybseek the most. As opposes to Islam which means "submission".
>>
>>18463445
Creepy old men with multiple sister wives while young men are kicked out of the compound to lessen competition. Violence again gentiles, normie Mormons and other poly crews, though that’s mostly in the past. Massive welfare fraud and scamming gentiles. I have a grudging admiration for any group that goes against the mainstream and sets up their own freaky thing but they’re on a par with those scammy dysgenic Hasids in the NYC area.
>>
>>18462921
It’s just Islam for white people frankly
>>
>>18463104
Are you estranged from your immediate family?
>>
>>18463384
>Abrahamic
>SAAAAAAAAAR
I don't get it.
>>
>>18462921
>Do you think becoming a Mormon is worth it?
If you convert to any faith because it happens to be practical or align with your political values then you are a retard who is simply too stupid or lazy to justify your secular values through reason so you want the convenience of just referring to your faith. If you think Mormonism is true then convert, if you don't think it's true then don't convert.
>>
>>18462921
Mormon girls on mission trips are unbelievably horny
>>
>>18463570
No. There really isn't a requirement for family or friends to cut people off for leaving like in Scientology or Islam. That's just specific people being dicks, no different from in other religious communities like a Baptist dad who stops talking to his kid when they leave Christianity despite it not being a Christian requirement to do so. I stayed in touch with all of my friends and everything for years after leaving until time and distance separated us.
>>
>>18463682
You shit on the street.
>>
>>18462921
They've borrowed the emotional, personal relationship with god from protestant christianity, and do a basically good job treating outsiders well. I've had a lot of mormon friends. Never met a mormon that didn't play dnd.

On the other hand, they believe a lot of kooky shit. They have a lot in common with Islam.
>>
>>18463782
>On the other hand, they believe a lot of kooky shit. They have a lot in common with Islam.
Elaborate, please.
>>
>>18463022
Mormons are cucked but so is Christianity in general
>>
>Do you think becoming a Mormon is worth it?
>>
>>18462921
>>18463863
no.
>>
>>18463872
Someone didn't have a very happy Cinco de Mayo.
>>
>>18463244
>brown kid

The LDS church's most receptive audience are brown people. Thirdies are most of their converts.
>>
>>18463946
That's all churches and religions for that matter. Whites and Asians have been embracing materialism on mass for decades now. Mormons, Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, etc are only really finding success in converting Latin Americans and Africans.
>>
>>18463817
Not that anon but they believe the indigenous population of the Americans (originally descended from proto steppe peoples from central asia) are a lost tribe of Israel. So they believe something that can be debunked with a DNA analysis. They also revere an obvious conman, Joseph Smith, and rewrite his personal history.
>>
>>18463949
This is all true. I'm fairly certain that if Latinos are given enough time in a first world country enough to raise their standard of living and IQ, they'll do the same. Or maybe they're subhuman monkeys at best, I dunno.

In Utah, the thirdies from from central and south America go on their missions here after being converted in their own country, and it's funny when one of them knocks on my door with their 87 IQ. No I do not want to pray, thanks. If there is a god it's not mormon.
>>
>>18462921
Their perfectly upright optimism creeps me out. They are just a little too proper, a little too friendly looking and a little too robotic. Doesnt help that they desperately want to assimilate you into their hivemind
>>
>>18463315
>the parents have to pay for their kids missions

I'm sure there is some of that but the kids usually raise some of the money by soliciting donations from their ward.

I heard decades ago that they were supposed to get jobs where they go for mission work but I think that was a misconception.
>>
>>18462921
Its kind of fucked how fully they're allowed to control their followers lives in their "territory". I only learned about Brigham Young recently. These people have like the biggest college in a state where virtually everyone is Mormon and Mormonism is crammed into as many subjects as possible. Its like, they have this whole infrastructure for raising their kids and not even risking them getting off the leash when they're 18, shipping them off to a state level college with all the suggestions of legitimacy and worldliness that implies yet which is designed to reinforce the conditioning.
>>
>>18464007
So trve xister, I bet they don't even teach them about marxism, intersectional feminism and white privilege!
>>
>>18464007
>control
Every single bit of it is completely voluntary. Take another shot of estrogen and go back.
>>
>>18464007
How's that a bad thing?
>>
>>18462921
I live near the oldest temple outside the states so there's tons of them around me. They definitely have an in-group bias in hiring and politics but otherwise they are good neighbors.
>>
Being polite is superficial. These people's actions have national impact. These are the kind of people who support the Vietnam war while exempting their entire population from the draft because all mormon males of military age are "clergy."
They were busted a dozen years ago because the church was the primary investor in a bunch of scumbag shell corporations, money laundering and tax fraud.
You can't serve both God and Mammon and the Morm-os have chosen. They are a population of organized economic parasites and an inimical influence.
>>
>>18463877
He needs more tacos
>>
>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trapped_by_the_Mormons
During the silent film era there were British Mormonsploitation films focusing on young women lured away to become sister wives. The LDS heavily proselytized in Britain from the getgo and they have a long history of anti Mormon prejudice.
>>
https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/dark-history-of-an-island-king
Mainstream LDS /his/ is wacky enough but the spinoff sects are wild. This guy set himself up as a pirate king on an island in Lake Michigan.
>>
>>18464600
Can Mormons eat tacos?
