Why didn't native Americans populate in California's mediterrarian climate? In the 15th century, Europe and North America had around the same amount of people.
It's such a shame that the Great Central Valley was never a cradle of civilization, it's such a perfect place for one. In a proper timeline, it would've been the heartland of a successive series of empires comparable to the Mayans and Aztecs down south.
