The names of various gods, heroes, and monsters in mythology are all either a pun on a specific word or a generic noun descriptive of them and to give an example, just look at the Egyptian sun god Ra. His name was literally the Ancient Egyptian word for the sun because Ancient Egyptians didn't just believe he was the sun god, they believed him to be the literal sun itself. Even in Coptic, the word used for the sun is ⲣⲏ (Rē) which again, is also the Coptic form of Ra’s name.
