Why did Europeans give up on their colonies. Why did they end slavery? I particularly think that the only country that should be indepent is the U.S.
>Why did Europeans give up on their colonies.too expensive to maintain>Why did they end slavery? slavery is not a good economic model, it involves a labor force that is unable to participate in the very economy that they contribute to, which makes it good for short-term economic growth but terrible for long-term economic growth
>>18470513so blacks would buy products? huh? england's though was too dumb, they thought blacks would have money to buy their products. Just continue slavery in the colonies, just don't send them to the capital
>>18470516Welfare aint infinite money pal
>>18470507It was cheaper to just have European and North American companies own the economies of developing nations and get the countries themselves to front the bill of policing and government. The companies then just focus on extraction and private security.
if i was britain's prime minister, I would never make India independent.
>>18470524Just make it part of Pakistan or break into twenty different pieces
> I particularly think that the only country that should be indepent is the U.S.Why? It was founded by Freemasons and jews
>>18470535>Masonchads and JewbrosYou don't have to tell me twice
>>18470507>why they give up on colonieseven at their height many euros wonder what the point was since any benefit from them pretty much went to the elites to the most part, and then when their countries got fucked hard by both world wars combined with growing independence movements and by extension growing insurgencies meant nobody wanted to put in the money and effort to keep them especially when they could get resource from trade>slaverybecause tech advances made it so you don't really need a bunch of disposable labor for basic shit which by extension made it harder and harder to justify making somebody work for free
>>18470507>Why did they end slavery?Because it wasn't actually bringing us any benefits
>>18470507>Why did Europeans give up on their colonies.Unsustainable and the costs never justified the expense of securing them. The ideal was "Now that we have colonies we have unlimited access to (rubber, iron, gold, oil) and are secure in our access to resources" the reality was that defending those colonies took men and defending those transport lines of goods took ships and those ships required coaling stations which required more men, so on and so forth. It was ultimately cheaper to just let the colonies be independent, handle their own security, no longer be viable targets when you are at war, and maintain their own infrastructure while you just traded for goods which you were mostly already doing anyway.>Why did they end slavery? This was often driven more by morality than economics, but it wasn't useful in a highly industrialized society. Slaves make shitty factory workers because their work has to be heavily scrutinized to spot flaws meanwhile if he's just picking cotton find the guys picking the slowest and hit them.
