Why didn’t Madagascar become powerful? It’s a gigantic unified island nation. It should be like a mix of Japan, Britain and Australia. Except much more of it is fertile and has viable land for agriculture
>>18470694Nothing I just drew is remotely similar to madagascar you retarded tranny
>poulatiion of mixed Africans and Indians>colonised by the FrenchThey never had a chance.
It was settled by Africans, man, the people who never invented the wheel
>>18470694They were a fairly significant regional power in the pre-colonial age as they traded with mainland Bantus over the Mozambique Channel regularly.Their power was diminished during the colonial era as mainland Africa was colonized and trade stopped as goods were being shipped to Europe instead
>>18470694It’s really odd to think how bizarre and inexplicable history must be when you don’t see race, that a tribal Afro-Indian kingdom not inventing the V-2 rocket is inexplicable to you because they had good geography. Stability + Time does not necessarily equal a western ideal of progress in a nonwestern society, because they have other priorities. They still have outbreaks of the black death because of digging up the recently deceased and “dancing” with the corpses.
>>18470711I thought history was a big Civ game though where your start location determines everything
>>18470694> unifiedI believe this is a modern development>>18470699>>18470711> indiansAre they not majority Bantu + Austronesian?
>>18470705Actually the Austronesian's beat them to settling it. It's probably why Afrocentric channels that focus on African history tend to kind of gloss over Madagascar especially states like the kingdom of Merina, despite the fact that, in terms of African history, it's among the most impressive parts because it almost industrialized on it's own.
>>18470694It's politically unstable. Run by various socialists and/or military dictatorships since its independence from France. The infrastructure is non existent or crumbling. The land is big, but it mostly sucks. It's dry as fuck savannah in the west with a strip of rain forest on the east. The central highlands can be farmed though and it actually makes up most of the economy. Climate change and extreme weather aren't helping though. They do have a lot of metal/mineral deposits, so there is potential there.
>>18470752> it almost industrialized on it's own.Interesting. Any good sources on this?
>>18470694They're half-niggers
>>18470740Just a long typo. My B.>>18470752Yes it’s a little insulting to their pride that, a little like North Africa, a relatively developed part of Africa was really not sub-saharan. Although that’s not to say it was near North Africa’s level. I don’t think they had iron smithing until like the 1500s, and even the Bantu already had that. But they did have some organization, rice paddies (naturally requiring stability) etc.
they had no needand the distance to africa is significant
