Is the "Early man were actually scavengers" meme ever going to die?
>>
>>18471635
Hunter gatherers are not scavengers
I think this meme only exists in your head
>>
>>18471635
>>18471723
OP complained so much that god killed the meme before it even existed.
>>
>>18471723
ealry hominids = anatomically modern humans hunter gatherers
>>
>>18471635
I have literally never heard anyone say this.
>>
>>18471635
You don't think your ancestors would have chased off the hyenas and salvaged the meat for themselves if they came across a fresh kill?
>>
>>18471635
in an environment where there is a stronger hunter than you, you're inevitably going to end up being a scavenger. man's gift is his superior intellect letting him defeat an animal that could otherwise destroy him with the swipe of its' paw.
>>
>>18471635
but it's literally true.
>>
>the pH of our stomach acid clusters with that of scavengers
>we have to spit when we see/smell/think of something disgusting because an orphaned instinct still makes us salivate at ripe roadkill
>we have adaptations for running in oppressive heat: bipedalism, hairlessness, large redundant brain and excessive sweating among them, because we were running towards the places where vultures would land, to get there before the lions. this ballooned into running after animals that were only weak or wounded, thus endurance hunting.
>and then OP posts
>>

A bunch of rock throwing apes aren't going to catch up to a gazelle or down an elephant, but they can scare away hyenas from a carcass and pull off a few pieces before they retire. It is the only logical conclusion. Early man discovered a new source of calories on the steppe and scavenging progressed to killing off young, old or sick animals that strayed from the herd to finally outright hunting. With persistence hunting being the main method.

Early man were actually scavengers
>>
>>18474548
you salivate at roadkill?
>>
>>18474565
all people do. it's just that spitting the saliva out evolved into a signal of disgust. and before you start thinking you are sooo smart with your insults, ponder the meaning of what I wrote, including that of the term "orphaned instinct".
>>
>>18471635
Literally me on the top
>>
>>18474570
I'm more likely to spit from someone's too strong perfume than from roadkill. We spit to get disgusting things out of our mouths, not because we want to eat them.

huh, it's true
>>

>>18474597
And bingo.
>>
>>18474597
Several of those animals, including the hawk and eagle you didn't highlight, primarily kill and eat fresh prey. And when you look at the rest of the chart there's basically no correlation between what things eat and the pH levels other than a very general and exception filled trend of lower pH if an animal eats other animals. Especially when you consider that the pH scale is logarithmic. A regular horse's stomach is apparently over ten times as acidic as a shetland pony's despite them eating the same exact things with the same exact gut arrangement.

>Heh. I'm sure to win because my intelligence is superior.
>>
>>18471635
maybe they were hunters but were able to supplement their diet with rotten meat/bad meat because of fire
>>
>>18471635
If that meme died, it'd get scavenged by an early hominid
