A little background: I have no knowledge in philosophy, but recently decided to start studying it on my own. I tought it would be a good idea to do so in chronological order so I started with the presocratic philosophers.

6So my question is: Is it worth to try to study Socrates through his disciple's writings, or should I skip Socrates and proceed direclty to Plato bearing in mind that Plato was influenced by Socrate's tought?

Just read the Crito and then masturbate in public and that’s it. There’s nothing more to life. Give up!

>recently decided to start studying it
Why?

Theres nothing much more to look forward to in this realm. Take it easy, take it slow.
Unless you getting it on with a youth aw yeah!

I really don't get this question. You won't skip Socrates by proceeding directly to Plato, Plato is one of our two main sources on Socrates (the other being Xenophon). Of course it's hard to tell how accurately either Xenophon or Plato portrayed Socrates' thought and how much of their writings is using him as a mouthpiece, but that's just life innit.

His depictions are complicated and sometimes contradictory
>Our world is so fucking boring!
I think so

Socrates used logical deduction to show the earth was round... what, 3k or 2500ish years ago?

As >>18475152 already pointed out, this question makes no sense, "the portrayal of Socrates in his disciples' writings" is virtually the same thing as "Plato's writings"
My only recommendation is to read Aristotle's Topics and Sophistical Refutations beforehand because they are like a guidebook to all the rhetorical tricks Socrates uses
