If you consider it, Christianity (and all such religions) are supremely hedonistic. The whole thing is oriented towards attaining the most pleasure for as long as possible in the imaginary realm of heaven, and avoiding pain and discomfort hell. Thoughts of heaven and even hell frequently provide Christians with pleasure here on earth as well, picturing their enemies suffering and so forth. And of course, it lessens the fear of death, which is painful and distressing.
It is all very sick, arrogant and foolish! How is any different from a junkie? Or a person who wishes to enter a sci-fi, matrix pleasure device?
