Pretty simple question. The sound change seems weird and I’m not sure of any other example where the suffix like Latin -fer/-pher or Greek -phoros somehow becomes -bal. Lucifer, acuífero for exampleWhereas Aníbal has the same rhythm and spelling though and is the older, more deeply ingrained name in Spanish collective memory.
