Exemplified by Mormonism and their practices at their holiest sanctuary, the Salt Lake City Temple.
>Your Temple Recommend now includes a QR code so that it's faster than ever to check if you've paid your membership fee and are fully qualified to worship God.
>That cash register in the lobby next to the Holiest of Holies? So that you can easily rent garments if you forgot them. Isn't it convenient?
>Yes, we DO expect you to pay the last 11 months' back-tithing if you want to attend your sister's wedding. That supermall won't pay for itself (it could, but we're prefer to enlarge the Church's investment portfolio).

Why does the all-powerful and omnipotent God, who created the universe, always need more cash?
>>
>>18477855
i didn't know greek churches could be that stingy
the priest at my OCA church is always very adamant about us only donating a little bit of what money we feel we truly don't need, and most of us parishioners help out more with cleaning or cooking for the church's meals after liturgy than doing our charity from our wallets
though the church you're looking at is in brooklyn so perhaps there are some "cultural influences" at play haha

>That makes them BASED!
Kill yourself. No, seriously. Put a bullet in your worthless brain. It's the best move you can make; Every day you continue to live you're just piling more sins to your account that will make your stay in Hell much, much worse. Cut your losses.

Ex-Mormons reach is always so petty
>We put temple recommends on mobile so it's more convenient for you to not have to carry around a flimsy piece of paper
>Noooo! You can't do that! Because...because...I said so!

God works in mysterious ways. Now shut up and donate.

Anti-Catholics still cry about medieval indulgences but today in orthodox you need $50 to receive the body of Christ
>>
>>18477855
Is is this normal in America? I'm European and while I don't believe anymore getting baptised was free?
Like I can't imagine God would be happy with anyone who is cockblocking others from joining Christianity because they can't afford to be baptised? What type of bullshit is that...
>>
>>18477893
Lmao do you think baptism in Russia or other orthodox countries are free? That's literally how modern orthodox churches survive, it's just a slightly different approach to Catholicism.
Instead of a membership subscription fee, orthodox churches rely on donations, but also on commercialisation of rituals. You have to pay for baptisms, weddings, funerals, but also smaller amounts for paraklesis, parastas, and just health/died prayers during the liturgy of preparation.
Welcome to capitalism baby
>>
Not only that, but the priest expects a tip, too. Not even joking.

This is why despite my interest I’m not going to any church. I was a former Catholic, then Pentecostal, and now non-religious, but I do feel a calling to go to my local Catholic or Orthodox churches. However, I turn back at the steps of the church after seeing retired rich boomers, wealthy families and others in their “Sunday Best” clothing going to church so that they can have their little social club. Mass/Divine Liturgy has long lost its ancient tradition of being worship for them, now it’s a series of methodical rites that they dryly comply with in order to be holier-than-thou. The churches I went to while growing up in my much more poor third world home country actually had poor widows, orphaned kids and others who couldn’t pay tithes. They’d come to church wearing modest, simple clothing, sometimes even work clothes, and pray fervently. Here, I don’t see any of that.

It is pretty funny. You buy an incredibly overpriced piece of paper, write a bunch of family names on picrelated, hand it to an altar boy, who then hands that piece of paper to read while "praying" for that person. Basically you can thus attribute a monetary value to praying for someone.
Religion sure is funny
>>
>>18480400
So much for christcucks larping about being the one, true and holy church when their own church has made tollbooths at regular locations along the narrow way that Jesus preached.

go back

no. Jesus did not pay John the Baptist for a baptism, and made a whip himself and beat those who were profiting off of temple rites. A baptism shouldn’t be worth hundreds of dollars, that’s several days of minimum wage work. In other words, the poorest minimum wage workers living paycheck to paycheck are mathematically excluded.
>>18479648
God works through the ways of capitalism, the revenue and gross profit of the church must increase
>>
>>18477855
You could wait for the Easter discount. Surely you wouldn't be unlucky enough to die before then, right? Yeah, you'll be fine.
>>
>>18481083
>the Easter discount
You’ve got to be kidding me. If Jesus decided to show his resurrected form on an Easter Sunday, he’d also think it appropriate to fashion a whip out of the priestly robes and personally and literally defrock the priests running this greedy scam then and there.

Nice try Joe, but I investigate cults before they ask for my money, not after.
I hope you enjoyed your first ever celebration of the Holy Week. There's surely more traditions from the Great Apostasy coming to enrich your life if the currect direction of your church continues.
>>
>>18481106
Rich traditions such as charging $250 for baptisms?
>>
>>18481111
It was Rusty Nelson's directive to mingle the philosophies of men with scripture, not mine. Direct your complains to Oaks when he instructs everyone to wear a crucifix.
>>
>>18479880
>baptised was free?
polish here, its theoretically free but usually parents are expected to pay custom fee, some priests have regular fee
it was different under commies but after they fell church really get greedy
