https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhMuWn2dnUwCatholics believe that you go to hell if you kill yourself. Lutherans fought over this.Which is the bibilically justified view?
It's generally one of the worst things you can do. I'm not sure to what extent God would be more forgiving if someone were in extreme pain, but it's pretty bad.
>>18478777Catholics don't believe that currently.
>>18478836It's really not. Harming another who is innocent, especially children but anyone in general, is significantly worse than harming oneself.
>>18478836>It's generally one of the worst things you can dothis is coming from the church who hides child rape
>>18478846catholics did not allow christian burial for people who killed themselvesthat also means more purgatory for themthis was part of the canon law for ages until they just quietly removed that in the 80s
I hope it's not, cause I plan on doing it once I reach 30.
>>18478777the answer is simple, but controversial. if you are born of the Spirit, and have taken a place in the body of Christ, then it is insult to the Lord for you to take your own life. Your life was paid for with the Son, who came to die for his body to rise giving you salvation in Christ. Those not born of the Spirit, not children of God, they are not called to take a place in the body of Christ, are not the sheep of the shepherd, and they are likely obstacles to the eternal life of those that are, so their deaths can have no meaning unless it is in service to the kingdom of heaven.
>>18478777>Which is the bibilically justified view? That you get to sheol regardless of how you live or die. So why would god give a shit if you kill yourself?

Suicide places one in a state worthy of damnation as it violates the 5th commandment. This is defined dogma:>"It also forbids suicide. No man possesses such power over his own life as to be at liberty to puthimself to death. Hence we find that the Commandment does not say: Thou shalt not kill another, but simply: Thou shalt not kill."Catechism of the Council of Trent, The Fifth Commandment
