Why didn't Tito just copy Sweden's economic system?
>>18479566I assume it was because he was committed to a Marxist-Leninist state, which fundamentally required the abolition of private property and capital.
>>18479566Look at Sweden in 2026 - a neoliberal hellhole, while China is taking over the world using Titos blueprint.
>>18479645I obviously meant the 60s/70s Sweden
>>18479566Because none of the different nations forming Yugoslavia was like the Swedes. Don't get me wrong I find all Scandinavians insufferable in person, but I can't deny they're quite brilliant people.Sweden isn't just a country of some kind of weird social welfare programs and machete rape gangs, but also a country with tiny population that produced world spanning brands such as: Ikea, Husqvarna, Volvo, Saab, Electrolux, Scania, H&M, Ericsson, SKF and ABB. All these were successful because of extremely proficient and innovative engineering and design of their products, and as such despite operating from a country with high labour costs and high taxation they've became global actors at least for some while.Name one brand of even fraction of the impact coming from Yugoslavia. Whatever the Yugoslavs are good at isn't engineering. How can they emulate the Swedish model if they just can't expect the same brilliance?
>>18479645"Tito's model" was just letting working age yugos emigrate to the West so his experiment could limp along a little longer using their remittances
>>18479566I mean, Sweden at that time was carrying out a state genocide of disabled people. But really, Tito had his own ideas. Some things he got wrong, but some things he got very right, like his police system.
>>18479566Sweden was not a collection of people who hated each other over petty religious and tribal feuds and would immediately butcher each other without a strongman ruling them.
>>18479645Sweden isn't neoliberal
>>18480460Yugoslavia hsd Gorenje, Elan, Turbo Bosna, Petrolka, TAM, TomosAll world class companies
>>1848105390% of them were women, and they coerced them into steralization
>they think Tito was behind the Yugoslav economic systemIts Kardelj idiots
>>18481262I have never heard of any of these except Tomos which had a subsidiary in my country. So just the name really, not actual Yugoslav products. Whereas the Swedish brands I know and have used products from every single one of them - all manufactured, or at least assembled and packaged in Sweden itself.
>>18481295Yugoslavia wasn't doing proper marketing and export.
>>18479645Why didn't Tito fix Yugoslavia?
>>18481322I don't know if anyone could have fixed it.>The Balkans had been a shithole since the fucking Romans left and the whole region had been continuously passed around between different empires like a hot potato.>Deep religious and tribal differences backed by strong nationalist movements since the 1800's meant no one actually wanted to be "Yugoslavian".>Bad geography, not any particularly notable resources to exploit, nor noteworthy farmland.>Surrounded on both sides by hostile states, sure you can mitigate this by playing them off each other, but the millisecond one of them falls the other will come to collect its pound of flesh.

>>18481374>>Deep religious and tribal differences backed by strong nationalist movements since the 1800's meant no one actually wanted to be "Yugoslavian".This only became a problem because of the bad economy which allowed nationalist grifters to emerge in the late 1980s. Had Yugoslavia avoided the debt slavery and adopted a better economic strategy, this wouldn't have become an issue.>>Bad geography, not any particularly notable resources to exploit, nor noteworthy farmland. This is plainly false
