The reason the global elite don't consider Stalin and Mao as bad as Hitler even though they hate communism is because they had an "alibi" in the form of famines, so there was plausible deniability. It's a good question though, like why were so many Jews attracted to Marxism in the 19th and early 20th centuries as a solution (which didn't work out) for their predicament.
