When the Chinese Civil War ended, a bunch of KMT regiments fled to Burma, conquered a Burmese province, and created basically a militaristic narcostate that enslaved locals to grow opium which their KMT Lords sold to the CIA in exchange for weapons to continue fighting the reds in Southwestern China.

They would ruler there until 1963 when the normally anti-commie Burmese military dictatorship begged the CCP for a joint operation to crush them. Most of the KMT soldiers were able to evacuate to Taiwan, but a bunch of broken officers stayed and created became the first narcowarlords of the infamous Southeast Asian Golden Triangle opium trade that spans Burma, Thailand, and Laos.

From the baltic sea to tunisia, in the fifth century, is pretty wacky. And managing to establish a kingdom and survive for another century is kinda wacky too

You didn't know that a lot of Germans fought for the French in the Indochina war? That's far less obscure of a fact than the Czech Legion, i would assume that most people have heard about the french legion - waffen ss connection
>>
>>18483403
not really byzacucks were notoriously incompetent. Their one success in taking down the vandals was because the king was off trying to take some italian islands

Nice. Honestly, I think the wackiest thing about Bin Laden is what apparently tipped him over the edge about the US was when it stationed soldiers in Saudi Arabia for the First Gulf War. I guess I don't get it because I ain't a jihadist, but that's it? That's what sets you off?

Deadliest Warrior talks about this...

In the Mexican-American War, there were Irish-Americans who become turncoats and joined the Mexican army.

It was in part about having a Christian army (and ally of Israel) stationed near the most holy sites in Islam and part bitterness because Bin Laden had offered his own protection to the Saudis and was rejected in favor of the US. This was just the inciting incident within Bin Laden's broader view that America was an evil occupying force in the middle east and that something needed to be done to get them out of there. He concluded that he could draw them into a war like the Soviet-Afghan war that would hopefully bleed them dry and cause their collapse as it had for the Soviets.

Entered this thread to talk about these guys.

>be irish emigrants fleeing famine in Ireland
>US tells you to join the army to escape poverty and be rewarded with land
>Join in droves, sounds good
>American officers treat you shittily for being Catholic
>American officers treat you shittily for being Irish
>American officers treat you shittily in general
>Question why Mexico is being warred anyway
>get told to shut up
>look at Mexican army
>better wages
>better land grants
>not being a bunch of fags
>fuck this, we're swapping sides
>join the Mexican Army
>become "Saint Patrick's Battalion" (San Patricios)
>Become renowned as skill artillery troops, infamous for deliberately inflicting as many casualties as possible on groups lead by US officers that mistreated them (such as Braxton Bragg)
>Fight for Mexico in numerous battles, beating the Americans numerous times to such a degree that Zachary Taylor himself was exasperated with havbing to deal with them
>Famously fought at Churubusco, where they continued fighting even after the other Mexican troops surrendered-purely out of spite against the American troops
>Threatened to shoot the Mexicans too if they kept surrendering
>Finally surrounded, many captured and sunsequently executed
>Captured American soldiers would often insist to the Mexican Army that they were members of the San Patricios to try and be freed

It was a weird time
>When the United States decreed an embargo against Cuba in 1960 and 1962, its Latin American and European allies followed suit, however, Francisco Franco did not place an embargo on Cuba. American pressure against the Spanish embargo breach was deflected by the renegotiation of the American military bases in Spain in 1963.
>After Franco's death, Cuba decreed three days of mourning.[8]
>>
>>18485443
Thats kinda cool.

Confederate Indians were pissed at the Feds for the Trail of Tears and didn’t want to lose their slaves. They fought in a lot of battles on the western edge of the Confederacy, against the Union and pro Union tribes or factions. Pea Ridge was the biggest battle with a substantial Indian contribution, where they were led by Masonic wizard Albert Pike and took scalps from dead Yankees. Stand Watie was the last Confederate general to surrender. I’m just going by memory but maybe some ACW autiste anon has more good stories.

Didn't the vandal's brother die too? Kinda fucked with his strategy
>>
Lauri Törni fought in 3 different armies during 3 different wars
>>
>>18485443
The mourning period was declared but was meant to only be sent to Spain. Castro was embarrassed when the news spread around Cuba.
