If genetics means so much, why does North Korea and South Korea look practically unrecognizable after being almost a century apart?

Good software is not going to improve bad hardware, but bad software can damage good hardware. North Korea was only a complete hell to live in when the famine ravaged the country in the 90s, otherwise it's mostly been 2nd world living standards coupled with an authoritarian regime.

North Korea just LOOKS unsettling. Their cities look like those cheap road traffic playsets made for toy cars.

Good software can improve bad hardware to a point, just compare Botswana to pretty much any other continental sub-saharan african country. They're never going to be comparable to advanced or semi-advanced economies but at least the country is somewhat livable by 3rd world standards.

And that is a good thing.

>north korea j-just LOOKS UNSETTLING!!1
Anon, have you stopped for even a single second to consider the reason it looks like that is because the US bombed every single place in North Korea to the ground and killed a third of their civilian population during the Korean war and the cities had to be rebuilt from scratch after the war?

There was a single city in North Korea not absolutely decimated by the Americans and that is Kaesong.
Kaesong was below the 38th parallel before the war and the Americans presumed it would be going back to them after the war, so didn't reduce it to rubble. But the armistice line left it in North Korea. This is what all of North Korea would look like today if not for America.

It wouldn't be structurally sound to rebuild 14th century architecture. It's just a part of their heritage that's gone forever.

Okay, now post Japan after 2 nukes and endless firebombing of their cities?
>>
>>18484979
Japan was rebuilt using American burgerbux. North Korea was not.

North Korea may have suffered more physical destruction, but the South barely had anything to destroy in the first place, it was mostly an agrarian shithole where people drove ox carts around on crappy dirt roads unlike the industrial North.
>>

OMG this so much this it looks so hecking unsettling without immigrants committing crime and fag flags painted on the streets!!!!

So soviet commiecoin was worthless? Yeah.

Genetics can only do so much against global sanctions. You already know this from looking at Cuba. Same people, used to be prosperous, now they're not. That the North Koreans are the only "rogue state" smart enough to make and then cling to their nukes is still a credit to their intelligence, though.

North Korea and South Korea are not equal geographically, they are not even equal in climate, but geopolitics is the main factor explaining their differences. North Korea is closer to the behemoth of a polity that emerges on the north China plain while South Korea is further along the peninsula and thus more easily accessible by maritime civilizations, which will necessarily be the most industrialized civilizations on earth that end up in allegiance after their inevitable late-industrial era brother wars. Korea's fate was to be split in twain with the north a militarized society.

Rome wasn't built in Norway despite being genetically similar to the Romans. No one ever said environment doesn't play a role and sometimes starkly different environments can supersede genetics.

Its genuinely impressive what Norks are able to do with their limited resources, mostly caused by these draconian (((UN))) sanctions. They even have their own space program.
North Korea completely disproves any leftist notion that brown countries suck because "dey be poor n the white man be keeping them down!", the irony shouldnt be lost on you. Turns out autistic gooks can make nukes, shoot rockets into space and have and orderly, clean country with the economy and living standards of a sub saharan shithole.

Give it up, man. The Castro government received shitloads of aid and resources from the USSR and squandered it all. Legendary economic mismanagement, no sanctions required.
