when stalin proposed this border for poland, why did the others humor him at all? to me, it seems pretty clear that it's not about punishing the germans by moving the border west, but is about taking historically polish land from poland and giving them land they have no connection to (pomerania, silesia) to make it seem fair and equal. on top of that, this plan required mass deportation (ethnic cleansing) of germans, while a much simpler solution, like maybe giving the eastern half of the Kresy to the USSR and giving all of east prussia to poland, then breaking germany into multiple countries (i.e more than 2), would only require minor deportations and would still result in a viable polish state.like, obviously stalin was always going to be a genocidal freak, but why did the other two enable him?
