what wouldve happened short and long term if Germany won WW1? the more i think about it I think possibly everyone besides a few no name countries and russia (maybe) would be better off
>>18483492german leadership under ww1 had very different opinions of what they should strive towards and no comprehensive vision (since they as everyone else stumbled into it).they did commit horrific acts in belgium and used slave labour from eastern europe, although these would probably have been abolished after peace.
>>18483492Short term german domination of central and eastern europe, somewhere inbetween austria-hungary and warsaw pact styleLong term probably something similar to the european union, except germany ACTUALLY controls it.
>>18483492WW1 wasn’t even Germany’s war. Even if they won they would’ve still sacfriced an entire generation for nothing.
>>18483492Frogs would have been the nazis instead. Imagine how /fa/ they would have been.
so many things could've gone different in 20th century that could've butterfly effect saved our current century and america as a whole (at least the state of it) I often think about how Brittain should've held onto India and prevented them from becoming a plague on the world
>>18483492One of the major concerns is an industrial one because of the discovery and importance of oil in the near future which also bring up the issue if the old sick man of europe the ottoman empire is still around, also in this scenario where germany has won but the mexican revolution that was also a civil war also occurs at this point on a norman normal time real number line More important though then any of this though is that if germany had won ww1 then there is a chance that the schlieffen plan was able to achieve planned war aims
I am less curious about big global ramifications and more curious about Germany itself.Do we think it would have gradually embraced democracy as many believed, or would Prussian autism reign supreme in a victory?
>>18484855>Britain hold onto IndiaI doubt it. I know the whole "but we fought in WW2" was a huge part of the reasoning for independence, but the steps taken to bring an end to direct British oversight in their overseas dominions and territories were already underway before WW1 even started.

>>18483492I think the greatest effect would have been cultural. With the continued existence and even prosperity of the conservative empires of the Central powers, the global shift towards democracy would probably be slower if not averted. It also depends on the year in which they win. If prior to 1917, then there would be no Soviet Union to unify the communist movement on an international level and oppose German political and cultural hegemony over Europe.
German nationlaism would be proven right. Völkism and other proto-Nazi beliefs.
>>18483791>WW1 wasn’t even Germany’s warIt kind of was though. They gave Austria the blank cheque knowing they would act on it, giving them a the opportunity to eliminate Russia as a rival.
>>18483492Depends on when and how. If they won in 1914 the war would have just been a minor footnote and a bigger war between the great powers would eventually follow later. If they won in 1918 you might have gotten something like Versailles on the opposite end and you may get a French Hitler instead. When you have so many industrialized empires mushed into a region the size of Europe they'll eventually want to use their shiny new weapons on each other regardless of what the circumstances were.
>>18485642Yes but there underway by nefarious forces and losing either war would have prevented them coming to fruition. Hilton talks about this in his account of his time in British politics and business.
