"I am not a crook."
>>18484609You sure look like one though.
There was a song by TV Girl that used that exact soundbite as a sample and now everytime I hear it I can only ever think of that one song
>>18484609“I am not anymore of a crook than all the corrupt democrats trying to destroy me”
Looking back, he really wasn't a crook. The worst thing he did was try and gather information from his political rivals that should've been public information anyways. There's a legal concept called "expectation of privacy". Why did the DNC feel they should have these expectations while conducting discourse regarding the election of public officials within an office building in Washington DC? Also let's be honest, Nixon would've won reelection anyways. The '72 election was an absolute landslide for him
>>18484666>6.5 billionThat's it? For some reason I thought this guy had at least 50 billion. He's a low-tier as far as billionaires go. Pretty sure I know at least one person with a higher networth than him
>>18484666Also notice how much he lost between 2016 and 2021 but I wager you're not here for honest discourse Mr. Satan
>>18484669>>6.5 billion>That's it?You have to add in his entire extended family to see how much he bagged in
>>18484645LBJ also secretly spied on Nixon in 68 sabotaging the Vietnam negotiations by promising the South a better deal if he got in He just fumbled on the cover up
>>18484671>the businessman spent money to make moneyWow.
>>18484645>Also let's be honest, Nixon would've won reelection anyways. The '72 election was an absolute landslide for himYep. Nixon always had shit timing. Him pulling out of Vietnam just as the North were on the verge of surrendering is another one.>>18484728It was LBJ who installed the Oval Office recording system. I believe Nixon initially removed it then reinstalled it.
>>18484801>just as the North were on the verge of surrenderingThis was not something that ever happened
Nixon was a pretty good president whose term was cut short over something that honestly wasn't that big of a deal. Another 5 years of Nixon sure would have been better than Ford and Carter.
>>18484852>Another 5 years of NixonYou mean another 2 1/2 years of Nixon.>better than Ford and Carter.IIRC, Ford's problem is that the Dems had super majorities in the House and Senate. Ford remains to this day the President with the most Presidential veto overrides.
>>18484609He took America off the gold standard and ruined the economy with Nixon Shock that alone makes him a crook
>>18484874The Democrats always had control of Congress back then.>>18484886That was FDR that ended the gold standard.
>>18484852it's not that he did anything worse than any other presidents, it's that the people who didn't like him went on to get jobs in media and academia
>>18484609He was a crook but not for that scandal.
