The practice of self-immolation (which btw is not even buddhist specific) is an act of protest that is not practiced (by Buddhists I mean) except when the buddhist religion is under attack by hostile states (as in Vietnam, for example).And Self-mummification is an extremely fringe practice that only a very specific Japanese sect practices.
