It's now day four of the daily presidents threads I'm doing in honor of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the USA's independence.Today is James Madison (3/16/1751 - 6/28/1836). He was president from 1809 to 1816. He is often known as the Father of the Constitution for drafting the Constitution and the Bill of Rights as well. He also helped write The Federal Papers.Notable actions or moments in his presidency include the Treaty of Fort Wayne/Tecumseh's War, the West Florida Controversy, the Wilkinson Affair, the War of 1812, the Era of Good Feelings, the Second Barbary War, and the Tariff of 1816. What do you think of the OG short king?

>>18491994posting this here
>>18491994Madison was a massive extreme autist nerd. Of all presidents he's perhaps the one we know the least about as far as his personal life, his letters virtually never discussed personal matters.
>Jefferson and Madison spend Adams's entire administration howling for war and secession over the Bank of the United States>once in office they decide the Bank is necessary after all for a stable financial system>in 1811, Madison renews the Bank's charter for another 30 years
>>18491994Made the foolish move of listening to a couple of hothead Congressmen and started a disastrous war the country wasn't prepared for.
>>18491994Better philosopher than leader.
>can't even remember if he was in that john adams miniseries or notgrim
>>18491553>>18491994James Madison never had a sonAnd he fought the War of 1812
>There was little celebration to be had for Christmas 1814, the nation's lowest ebb since the winter at Valley Forge 37 years earlier. The winter snows drifted down upon the blackened shell of the White House. Across the ocean, peace negotiations were being worked out in Belgium, but it would take weeks to get any news back to America and nobody knew what was going on there or what sort of settlement would be worked out.[8]
>>18491994Why did he draft a constitution for ratification by 9 states when there was already a constitution that was ratified by all 13 states?
He was at the Battle of Bladensburg and took command of some soldiers. The only other time I know of an incumbent president doing this was Washington during the Whiskey Rebellion.
