Back at the day, during Early Middle Ages, each western nation thought itself as the center of the world, each nation had their own scripture, their own Christian national church, their own Christian rite, their own artistic-scholarship, etc.

Then French throught conquest (conquest of England in 1066, the later conquest of Ireland by French monarchy that owned England, conquest of Sicily/Southern Italy) or cultural-diplomatic pressure (Burgundian marriages with Spanish royalty, the imposition of the Gregorian Reform in Spain, Southern Italy and Ireland, etc.) erased all these nations cultural identity and pushed the French culture (Gothic arts, Carolingian/Gothic scripture, French literature, Roman rite, etc.).

Even more so, French victory was so great that everybody ever since got to move to study in French universities.

Ever since Westerner history has been that of French colonies and vassals fighting agaiinst France....

France seemingly had won by the 13th century. The House of Capet had consolidated its hold over the Kingdom Proper, and successfully spread its dynastic claimants to Southern Italy and Hungary. It also established a hegemony over the Papacy, while England struggled to keep its remaining Angevin Holdings and the HRE was with interregnum after the eradication of the House of Hohenstaufen. France was poised to achieve European Hegemony. Yet the Hundred Years War threw a gigantic wrench, with England checking French power. Crecy, Poitiers, and Agincourt firmly stunted French expansion until Louis 14.

England was a French colony, tho, it was a French civil war between the metropolis and the ruling French elites of England using colonial troops.

After John Lackland, the Plantagenet‘s increasingly became more English as they had to rely more on England. Edward III’s victories consolidated this transition.

These "French" were Germanic tribes speaking a West Germanic language with their capital in Aachen (under Karl der Große), and with their political successors being the HRE i.e. Germany.
France did not become the most powerful state in Europe until the late 13th century -- when the HRE began bickering with itself. And that's nearly the end of the High Middle Ages.
France did enjoy a period of pre-eminance from the 14th to maybe 17th centuries. Then came England, and again Germany.

It was the Tudors that conquered Ireland, not the Normans. The initial Norman invasion resulted in the seizure of a handful of cities on the coasts, and the Lordship which followed rarely managed to reliably control anything outside the Dublin and the wider Pale.

It was the Tudor conquest and subsequent Flight of the Earls that saw Ireland brought under indefinite English rule.

Between this and OP's post it shows that both French and German nationalists are braindeads.

Northern and north Western Europe were barbarian shitholes from the collapse of Rome to 1500 ad. France had a demographic dividend and expanded but the people realized they’re being ruled by genetically different German Barbarians that are the reason they had lived in 1000 years of darkness ie the French Revolution

Only to be ruled by an Italian.
Funny how both of France's "Great Men" weren't French. But a German, and an Italian

Burgundian pussy was so powerful that Spaniards banned the Spanish rite and replaced the Spanish letters with Carolingian letters.

Diplomatically 6/7 centuries of iberberian tradition defeated by a French pussy.

Nobody in Spain know or give a shit about this dude. We only vaguely know that the Cluny monks were influential here and helped gathering fund for the reconquista but that's the sum of it. Good for you I guess.

I know, that is why I say Spain became a cultural satellite of France and a colony after Louis XIV conquered Spain during Spanish War of Succession.

10 centuries as a French cultural satellite.
3 centuries as a direct French colony.
Cuck symbol in the flag to remind iberberians their status as colony.

In real life France ceded all the american territories they didnt abandon to Britain to Spain.
Spain was so much a colony that Spaniards were lording over French in the new world.

France was not the center of civilization. That was Italy until the end of the middle ages. And even then, Austria and its Habsburg house was just as influential and central as France.

>Yeah, which were the most important part of the country
Outside of Dublin (which was primarily valued for its fleet) not really. Perhaps a century prior when the eastern and southeastern Norse ports were the only major trade ports, but by this stage places like Galway and Armagh had booming markets too.

Ireland was absolutely not doomed to English conquest even after Henry II's departure. The point of no return was Kinsale in 1601, centuries later.
>>18650528
Not really, the job was done by the Tudors. The Cromwellian conquest just shattered the remaining Catholic nobility, who were happy to support an English monarch provided their rights weren't continually abused. There ceased to be any political order other than England in Ireland following the Tudor Conquest and Tyrone's Rebellion, the descendants French/Normans were by this stage grouped with the Gaelic Irish.

The Habsburg drew their power from Spain and its colonies. The HRE was a barely functionable hellhole.

And then it came 1789 and France went on the road of self-destruction into hell.
