Ok so I'm not saying Justinian WAS a demon... But IF a demon were to become emperor wouldn't his reign be exactly like Justinian's?

>become unquestioned tyrant keeping your subjects loyal through fear
>kill hundreds of thousands in pointless wars
>make the church directly subject to you
>have a literal whore be made into a saint
>do a massive blood sacrifice of tens of thousands of your own citizens in the middle of the capital
>bring famine and pestilence into the world
>plunge Europe and the Middle East into three centuries of darkness

Go to bed Procopius.

I know next to nothing about this guy despite him being famous. Please elaborate more on how he was evil.

Maybe I’m just uninformed, but this pattern of behavior doesn’t seem all too exceptional to your typical corrupt and brutal despotic emperor, except for the “ massive blood sacrifice of tens of thousands of your own citizens in the middle of the capital” and “have a literal whore be made into a saint” which I also know nothing about. Did he really sacrifice thousands of people?

the "sacrifice" was pretty much just him cracking down on a riot, and while I can't really comment on the whole his wife being a whore being true or not, I can say making a whore a saint isn't exactly that unique given several saints used to be bandits that killed people before repenting

He butchered the west and weakened the east. Most of the catastrophes that weakened the empire in the 7th century trace back to his reign in one way or another, or were made worse by the fallout of events that took place under his leadership.
