I recently found out about open matte formats. Only one I have so far is Spider-Man. It looks so amazing in my opinion. Anyone know sources for other movies?
>>5180503this question is better for /tv/ I think>Anyone know sources for other movies?if you mean where to get them just search "open matte" on torrent sites, if you are looking for a list then there's thishttps://letterboxd.com/ozmwlm/list/movies-with-common-top-open-matte-versions/
>>5180503Can you explain to an unsophisticated luddite like myself what you mean by open matte, and what the difference is?
>>5182123It just means the original 35mm film uncropped, it was used for some dvd releases to avoid pan & scan
This seems as good a place as any to ask - I have two pressing questions about pic related.First, why can't I find a decent hi-res version of this image? This was the best version I could find, and even then it's all blurry and shit. Even after looking around online for a while I find places that claim the image is 4K, and it's not. What gives? Second, and more bizarrely, why do different versions of this image have completely different colourings? I've seen versions of this image where the sky on the right hand side is bright blue, bright purple, and just dark grey. I get it's not a set picture because it's a lingering shot so there's a few seconds of frames to take the still from, but the problem persists across gifs of the same image so it's not that.
>>5183109Download the actual 4k blu-ray rip and get a clean shot you whiny faggot
>>5183130still doesn't explain the difference in colouring
I had this one downloaded a long while ago and liked it a lot, thought it was just a cool wallpaper. I eventually saw BR2049 and realized it came from there lol. There are so many shots in that movie that could be wallpapers.
>>5183109if it's from a 4k disc then the SDR conversion may be different from image to image.
>>5184280SDR conversion? Then how am I supposed to get the 'true' version, or is there no such thing?
