Congratulations Xenomania, Nullstars, and Misfits for winning CR4B. Hope your wishes are worth it!Now I think this is a good time to pitch a new tradition, after every CRAB. An Ending Slideshow. How this goes is that everyone will reply to a thread, describing the current state of their CRABs in a manner of Fallout New Vegas's ending slideshow. I'll start things off at the next post with my epic narrator voice. Have fun.
>>817770I wouldn't say that. Both are kind of dead but Bevis has a very small sliver of a chance
*ahem*https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkqgupffSsY*Talks in epic narrator voice.*> And so, The CRABs who had thwarted a coup in Eichstätt, Germany thwarted a coup once again, and Comics and Random Art Battles was forever changed. The CRABs, with the aid of DOOMVA, drove C.U.M from The Crabstar, securing victory to the real winners. With DOOMVA out of the picture, its power was diverted to Debbie to keep order. Any chaos within the ship was ended, quickly. Chaos became uncertainty, then acceptance, with minimal loss of life. Debbie assumed her position as The GameMaster of CRAB. (At least until she find a successor.)
>>817770I believe it can work. All they need is to meet at the party and for him to apologize. Both tried to kill everyone (him out of chud rage and her due to CUM antics) so it should be awkward for both. There is no need to hold hate anymore, free now of the pressures of Crab they could know each other.>>817770Zehya has Melody now
>>817774I think there's a fundamental problem in that all of the ship fuel came from Clovis liking Berry but Berry just never liked him in turn through the whole tournament in any reciprocal fashion. Once Clovis realized not only she didn't like him but also was actively trying to stop him from winning the tournament it was beyond over. Not to say the dynamic wasn't compelling though, Clovis very obviously liked her through 90% of the tournament itself between showing concern for her welfare and going out of his way to help her like with the poison plot. Narratively speaking, if Clovis hadn't warned her she would have walked into Round 2 with even less context and awareness of the trickery Atta was up to.Berry meanwhile not liking him because of how casually and callously he could kill people like his own teammate and his justifications for it and his cruelty being that he 'has to' be like that was never going to endear her and it's honestly understandable to want nothing to do with him over it. Going a step further, assuming the worst of him and what his wish could be is a natural response especially when he was crashing out.Now that everything's cleared up, it doesn't really take away that Clovis did still activate the nuke to eke out his win over Berry and he likely won't apologize for going to the lengths he did to get the gold necessary to reach the tie win-state, because if he didn't his team would have lost and with that lost the opportunity for the wish. The nature of the wish he wanted doesn't excuse the lengths by which he went to achieve it, and it can be argued that it all wasn't even necessary. All he had to do, at ANY point, was talk about what his wish was and why it was so important to him to win. But he didn't, not to anybody except maybe Smoke but even there he wasn't very clear about it.

Things to think about when considering a character for /crab/>why are they here?>how will they behave in random scenarios?>how will they mesh with strangers?>will the character be fun/feasible/productive to draw for a long period of time?>will opponents understand how to use the character?
>>818401>How much extra shit are you willing to draw outside of the round entries? The really popular characters tend to have a lot of extra side content where they're interacting or reacting to other characters.
>>818401The most important aspect is simply wanting to interact.
>>818410That's to flesh out the character and it also let's people connect with it. That's why they are popular.
So, /crab/. What are you gonna do at Chez Nullstar?

I’m curious. Had your OC won and be given the privilege to make their wish, what would their wish be?
>>819058New parts for space motorcycle
>>819058For AttaIn theory "that everyone would agree with her". So a passive mind-alteration to every being that makes them think her choices are right and overall share her beliefs: this means multiversal-scale pacifism, no war, no empires, respect to cultures, patriarchal traditionalist values, etc. However in most endings I imagined for the character she would have eventually let go of that wish and had wished for something way simpler instead like making her sister happy.
>>819112I know some of the my team wishes as wellAsh: to have someone who loves herHuang: to become immortalMara: to make her arm normal againZorquan: to become the warrior he was destined to be?Aiyori: I think just wanted to send everyone home but I can't recallAx'ppos: was more complicated, I think it involved creating another canon dimension.

>>821454I'm going to answer with something a little more indepth. The most notable storylines that exist which involve a multiple number of characters and their interactivity with the subject in Cr4b's tournament are:>Atta's Poison PlotlineThis one was the most obvious and first notable C4 plot. Atta during the pre-tourney tomfoolery slowly poisons members of the cast who mutually interacted with her. This has the most striking effect on Zehya, but forced other characters like Fluxxo and Ignatius to act in response to it. It's a web of Ignatius catching on, telling Clovis about it, who then informs Berry about it, that sews a line to Atta's defeat in R2 before she could infect the entire cast. This plotline chisels Berry out as a hero for removing what is not so much a mortal threat but a threat to free will itself. It also is the crux for Zehya's entire character arc which has a lot of pull.>The CUM PlotlineThis one once you have the R3 context surges forward contextualization for earlier entries involving the clownish conspirators with Fluxxo at the helm. Fluxxo infecting Berry with the clown venom via Shits is how she had the power to resist Atta and win her second round, he excises materials from the Crabstar to create a time machine to enact the plot at the climax of the tournament, he collaborates with Dizzy and later Trixxy who have been used and abused by others just as he had in his past, and his position as Giggles' father figure edges out the Misfit's own storyline of their developing found family.
>>821660(continuing because text limit is a bitch)There's of course other smaller-scope character plotlines happening in C4 which I think earn noteworthy mentions, I for one really did enjoy the Misfit's narrative and (mostly) cohesive storytelling through the tourney, or my teammate Hemma's character arc of overcoming grief and living for what exists today for yourself. Zehya's fall from grace into paranoid hurt and existential terror, Time Warrior's development into a heroic figure fighting essentially god in his last match, Head Investigator essentially rediscovering his humanity past a haze of insanity; you get a lot of very interesting character developments here to mentally chew on and I know there's more I probably haven't mentioned too.If I were to put my finger on it, Berry does have the most presence in the estate of the ongoing major plots while also (quite incredibly) keeping to a third narrative on her plate that is more personal than the sweeping effects of either previously mentioned big plots.Clovis I think despite not being a main player in any plotline just had a charisma to him that got people interested in him, his antagonism to his own team, his severe and (mostly) serious demeanor, and his bigotry against anthros made him compelling and incited what became the crux of his and Berry's plotline of her distaste of his conduct versus his attraction to her. It's not anything too special but there's an interesting aspect to the pair that has its own special gravity and takes up narrative space on Berry's plate. There's a thrust to defeating Clovis as there is to defeating DOOMVA, an idea of overcoming evil to free the oppressed and exploited that looks really good on paper. But I think what's interesting about that is nothing ever is quite so black and white, and it's that small snag that tugs Berry back by the nape of her shirt that also results in a general resistance TO the CUM rebellion plotline.
>>821673(last one promise)Unlike other tournaments, there is not much narrative capital to pay off CUM's plot as a protagonistic venture. This kind of rebellion would have been a hit with the crowd and the original Gamemaster, who unapologetically would destroy homeworlds of losers and kill hundred of gnomes just because they got his coffee wrong. DOOMVA hadn't been properly and fully villainous over the course of the tournament or put to task for its more questionable actions until R3 where the sudden slights were stacked up. Berry carries a microcosm of this same kind of problem of neglecting the full buildup to sell a righteous payoff. If her issue with Clovis was his treatment of his team she did not once interact with the people she wanted to stand up for to take upon the idea of punishing him for the transgressions he's done to others chasing for victory by any means necessary. And from Hyuckleberry's own statements in R2 it seemed less an action she is doing for other people and more something she wanted to do for herself, expunging her frustrations and hate of people who wronged her in the past on a man who had not done anything to her.So when it washes out and the wishes are made, CUM is excommunicated and Berry ends up having lost her narrative momentum in her loss to Clovis, ironically mirroring the same character narrative stopgap that Berry had imposed on Atta in R2. She hadn't prevented a wish from being made, hadn't prevented Clovis' team from winning, and closed out the tourney effectively alone given nearly her whole team had vaporized under her except Scarlet.Kind of a bummer ending for such an important character, am I right?
>>821454Clovis was this year's protagonist, and his arc was a theatric tragedy.>Prominent role throughout multiple storylines and entries>Begins with clear ideologies and composure that he later betrays>R1 and R2 have him challenge his prejudices from two different angles, R3 he abandons them>Very notable out-of-round presence
>>821694No, Clovis is an antagonist.
>>821694>>821700He’s a villainous protagonist. Maybe anti-hero since that wish at the end saved his world.
>>821703I agree. My choice on who I label a CRAB as Protagonist of the Year comes from their interactions with other CRABs, how their actions affect the narratives, their characters and arcs, and how their stories play out. That's why Clovis deserved that position, as well as Berry.
>>821688I think you've forgotten that Marv wasn't vaporized, he left. At the very least he wasn't there to witness Hyuckleberry's rampage.
>>821712I probably should've used a different word in hindsight, I meant that as I would atomization of a social group or disbandment, except more sudden and unexpected on Berry's behalf. Marv left her a Dear John letter, in-character N377 and Rubber Golem were both overwhelmingly overran. Marox in her point of view just completely disappeared before the third round even happened.Marv was the closest person to her in the tourney as her second-hand in her team but also I read it as a friendship between them. Out of everyone his disappearance is probably the biggest blow to her socially. Outside of him who else were close to her to fall back on with such a big loss to swallow?
>>821454Inspired to elaborate a bit more.>CRAB 1Goes undoubtedly to Linda, though Taya is a close deuteragonist. Linda has a goal from day one and the tournament is about her accomplishing it, and one of the main events (Joseph dying) directly relates to her team. There aren't that many narratives outside of this, Nova's death is a secondary one and Asha's rebellion is played as a joke.>CRAB 2If Chadwick is the certified antagonist of this tourney then the young girl facing him in a desperate final battle has to be the protagonist, even if she tragically loses. Alaisa's team also has a strong protagonist energy. "But what about Blast Rites!" You ask. Chuckson has more of the energy of the paragon character who sacrifices itself which very fittingly Soren will take on later. His battle relates him to Alaisa, to the idea of second chances, and ultimately leads to his sacrifice to help Carolyn, but none of these things yet directly affect the outcome of the second tournament itself and Chadwick taking power. (Though in the long run they do help it in the shape of Maiden-4 training Monomyth and so).
Man... I really dropped the ball on Berry huh?I really didn't expect Berry becoming one of the main characters when I started. There was a lot of narrative weight just dumped on her when she was matched up against Atta and frankly I wasn't prepared for it, so I just went honey badger trying to survive. With Marox and N377 gone, as well as losing to Clovis, I was very close to just giving up on Berry. Clovis had a lot of crab content centered around him as well the artist's contributions to crab earns them the right to be the main character of crab 4, villain or not.I'm very not happy with how Berry's story went down and I wish I could go back and start over, hopefully I can get Berry's ending done so I can fill in her narrative gaps but it's gonna take a while.I appreciate all the feedback y'all.
>>821715>CRAB 3I could observe a handful of protagonists here and I don't believe any has particularly more predominance. Wietse faces Tredecima who is one of the tournament's main villains and ultimately is his team which achieves the victory in a vote battle against Lenard. He is also tied to the Nuremberg rebellion plot - but ultimately he is overshadowed there by Florida Man who is both a villain and a hero. I think the Kome suggestion isn't bad but her issue is that her fights are unrelated to the main events going in the tourney, at least up until the Z bonus battle which helps them win the votes. Soren to me is another Chuckson case of a paragon being the sacrificial Big Good. One could argue Berbie himself is a protagonist. I would say it's between Wietse, Florida Man and Berbie.>CRAB 4While I agree Clovis has villain protagonist energy that ultimately makes him an antagonist in the final fight against Berry, as morally ambiguous as it could be. Berry is simply in many pies - she ends the poison plot and defeats Atta, she is part of CUM, and given Atta is already beaten by the start of her final round then R3 Berry is also facing the last conflicting winner of Crab 4, which is very protagonist-like fight to have (arguably Fluxxo can be considered an villain protagonist as well however he to me acts more as an overarching force of rebellion and chaos). It was written before that she failed to change anything but I'd argue by forcing Clovis to Nuke she also created the chance for Melody to take the wish and not make it whatever Clovis wanted it to be, which at the time at least it was presented as likely bad for many characters and driven by hate and spitefulness Zehya is a pivotal one as her rounds really were vital in deciding the direction of the tournament but she does not strike me as a protagonist. Melody I see her as Kome, she has protagonist energy in that she helps her team win but her fights themselves don't entirely feel like the main plot.
Guys I think Debbie's character arc shouldn't be slept on. She's kind of inspiring given the tournament's progression.>commentator for the tourney>gets stressed out and tormented by some of the people she interviews for no real good reason>gets killed by an anti-furry chud at least three times>gets unwanted attention from a perv alien >gets blamed for managerial decisions the DOOMVA made like the Stowaway situation>gets targeted and tormented by the clowns>her boss gets destroyed and inherits phenomenal cosmic power>rejects the bad ending wish and uses magical workaround to spare the other crabs the destruction of the universe or whatever the Misfits wish was
>>821945She's not really slept on, if anything she's one of the more popular characters.

I know that was last year, but it’s been bothering me.In Berbie vs. The Rebellion, he wishes for a pocket universe. One of its contents is a unified selves of all the CRABs from CRAB 2 that are not participating in CRAB 3 returning back to their worlds without any memories relating to the tournament, yet Maiden-4 is shown in Kome’s epilogue, beside her and not inside the marble! Shouldn’t she be inside the pocket universe? How come she’s still out there? Did Soren have something to do with this or was this a narrative error?
>>822274Maiden-4 brown-nosed hard to ensure she got the best deal out of this. Why you think she sucked up to Kome? Why you think she fucked Soren? Think, anon. (this is canon btw).
>>822274I made that epilogue, basically in my mind Kome wanted Maiden-4 services so she avoided the marble taking her and let her choose her own fate as an exception. (That traitorous milf cat answered by joining the Doomva, baka.) Considering further reveals of Maiden-4 its interesting.More intriguing to me is how the unified world marble works, is Soren also dragged into the same marble reality and thus safe from crab? Or Soren's new rebuilt world is a different, alternate version of it different to the unified one Maiden-4 could return to? For me it was the later but it could be argued it contradicts the wish.

>>822371This is the after season thread of CRAB4, the 4chan oct's 4th edition. You can check the pastebin to see the previous years in tournament season with all the entries. If you are interested you can join before the tournament starts by doing a pit entry (A comic defeating a beloved character from the previous tournament of that year crowned as the pit champion)But the pit champion of this year still needs to be selected.
>>822372I nominate Gretchen for this years pit champion. Her slapstick aura and her coincidental luck would make her a great challenge. Let's see if her coincidence can protect her from a swarm of new competitors.I'd nominate Fluxxo too cause he's chaotic. Plus he was a rebellion leader who nearly destroyed the bucket. You think Atta would be nominated as pit champion? I know she's not much of a fighter, but I wanna see how creative everyone can get in killing this witch. Plus, didn't she say she wanted to experience what death is like, numerous times?
>>822378Honestly, the winner of the most wanted list should be the pit champion.
>>822378>>822379The thing with Pit Champions is the idea that they are an interesting character that is easy enough for anyone to draw and anyone to work with. For /crab3/, Kevin the Lizard from /crab2/ was the Pit Champion. For /crab4/ it was Florida Man from /crab3/. Whoever becomes Pit Champion has to be a character that is easy to draw, not too bullshit power-wise but also fun to work with.I do find that Houndclops is one of the best candidates for Pit Champion in that regard.

For next CRAB, we need more meta shit.We should have a character or a plot line for a character where they slowly learn that CRAB is just an annual art tournament where their gods come together to put their creations onto the games for the fun of it and for certain ones, their only purpose in life is to compete in CRAB.
>>822728If you really believed this tournament had pedos you wouldn't even try to associate with it.
