Rough initial sketches are useful for getting a sense of your characters' shape,stance and demeanor. But as a tool,a rough is only the first steps in making a design,and not for public consumption.
Pixel schizo would be so much more appealing if he did his Dadaistic artwork as trad artwork instead of meaningless digi shit.

Rough sketching is a tool for yourself to capture the shape and stance of characters, a thing for your hand to do when visualizing new ideas. You toss lines around irregardless of the ones underneath because within that mess only you can know what shape defining lines are important. What the client gets are the careful first attempt at the "official " drawing with all your roughs as reference.
