is this still the recommended book for drawing anime girls?
>>7699410now you're feelin the form
yeah
>>7699410Not sure why they can’t just sell it on amazon.
>>7699410bridgman and vilppu are the only things you need
Learning forms and anatomy isn't a joke. I feel like people wanting to draw anime girls seem to have the misconception that learning anatomy will make them only draw 'realistic' figures when the reality is it teaches you form, shapes and other things that will elevate your art to look more natural and appealing.

>>7699410I picked it up just for the hype that it was Vilppu's book and I got an early copy so I have his signature on it, but honestly if you are an /ic/ fag who has his video courses on stand by it really is a dumb purchase to make. I started reading this shit and not even a couple of pages in and I thought "Wait I know this shit already" Not implying im good at it mind you but Ive already heard it a thousand times. If you wanna draw anime girls follow his video courses, not the book. Its the same shit but you can follow along with his strokes
>>7700368Which video courses anon? He has so many. Not all leaked. I'm very confused which one to watch and where to get them.
>>7700371Well if you want my honest to god advice I'd say fuck Vilppu for life drawing and look up Karl Gnass's Spirit of the Pose class. Both are competent but speaking personally as a fucking idiot, the way Gnass explains the process makes sense, like if I were to teach life drawing and gesture Id literally ape off of him. You can argue that Vilppu is a more competent draftsmen or whatever but he sort of meanders in explaining shit.Either way though if you still want Vilppu's specific lessons he has a course with the same name. Both courses you can download off of shit like Online Courses Club or the vid threads that pop up occasionally
>>7700382Karl's lectures suck bro
>>7700361I wish I knew anyone else who would get this
>>7700420Why get the rest, when you can get best?
>>7700420It is today that I for the first time notice that scholastic published this book holy shit. I've always been way too drawn to the shitty faces to notice
>>7700361I don't get it still...
>>7700420i literally threw out my copy of this a week ago, shit ruined my life
Are all of Vilppu's courses of equal quality? I only have his Renaissance videos.
>>7701519No one watched them on /ic/, we just love to namedrop his name.
>westerners want me to buy books just to draw simplified asian girls rofl lmao womp womp
>>7699410There seems to be a lot of confusion about what Vilppu means when he says "feel the form". He actually means that literally -- you have to first touch and feel the forms in real life before you can draw them. If you haven't felt the forms in a while, drop whatever you're doing and get out there and feel them, but get back to drawing as quickly as possible so the tactile information doesn't fade before you have a chance to lock it in.
Will copying bridgman twice help me draw anime girls?
>>7699410It's pic related despite the complaints about his style.
>>7699410>>7703116Is there no Japanese Bridgman or Villppu?
>>7700350This is a troll post. It's literally a waste of mental energy to explain the most basic logic to trolls, or retards who believe trolls. If somebody doesn't have the intelligence to understand that knowledge is transferable, they're a lost cause. If somebody can't understand that only grinding realism makes you only good at drawing realism, they're a lost cause. Like going to the gym and lifting weights then wondering why you aren't athletic like martial artists and only strong. It's a matter of building a general base and specializing.
>>7703129i didn't have any issues with the art style, but i found breaking down the forms into "level of detail" somehow made it harder for me. maybe i'll try it againalso it's probably my autism but i don't know what i should and shouldn't try to copy from the book, like if i should attempt every example or just the ones in orange
>>7699410I prefer the old version. Shame it's out of print in English. I'll probably import the Japanese version eventually just to have a copy.
>>7702229This. Don't just look at the model's fat titties. Get up and give them a firm squeeze before drawing.
>>7702229In the NMA videos he's constantly squeezing tits and fingering vaginas.
>>7703139why would there need to be a japanese version?? the human body is the human body you fucking weeb. muh samurai doesnt make it special
>>7703212Level of detail just means start with simple mannequins and increase the complexity of parts as you memorize them; rinse and repeat. >>7702229You're not going to be "feeling the form" until you're his age if you're using eggs and spheres like that.
>>7700420Wow I haven't seen this book in like 20 years. Thanks anon.
>>7701549YesTezuka was inspired by Mickey Mouse
>>7699410Free lesson on how to "draw" anime girls like pros:1. Find reference image2. Trace or paint over3. Add bug eyes uuguu kawaii~4. Post online for pedo gooners to cheer
>>7699799They do. But only as digital kindle ebook.>>7703221Wait, the old and new NMA version are different?
>>7703675Has anyone uploaded the ebook? I've been finding those things way more comfortable to read than pdfs, but dunno how one with lots of images looks like
>>7701549>simplified asian girlsanime girls do not look asian in the slightest
>>7703712They definitely don't look white if that's what you're implying.
>>7703675Yeah the NMA version has new drawings.
>>7703139Bridgman is the Japanese Bridgman. Capcom basically built their internal style guides on Bridgman.
>>7704009Isn’t that literally Hogarth? Japanese animators usually prefer Hogarth.
>>7699410Bridgman is better
>>7709661why is bridgman good
>>7704191Japanese animators do not generally prefer Burne Hogarth; the idea that they do is likely a misconception, as the distinctive style of anime was heavily influenced by Japanese manga artists like Osamu Tezuka, not by Hogarth's work, which is more associated with American comics. While Hogarth was a highly influential American comic artist known for his dynamic figure drawing and anatomy, his style did not become a dominant influence on the established characteristics of Japanese animation.
