First time actually trying in a drawing after months

NTA but it's mostly to build line and stroke confidence so you get higher quality lines. My recommendation would be to draw a bunch of lines of differing lengths and degrees of curviness on a sheet of paper and then trying to draw over those same lines exactly about 3-4 times that way it also helps you build up hand eye coordination. this whole exercise should only take about 5-10 minutes and is suitable for use as a warm-up activity before a drawing session

to improve your line consistency, get a fresh pencil and draw on concrete until theres nothing left of the pencil and your hand starts to bleed. Then use that blood to redraw this same image at least a 100 times. Worked wonders for me.
