Any tips on how to get the arcs right in figure drawing? I've already memorized most of the proportions, but I'm stuck on this page

They're just circles

This is useless. No one thinks about arcs like this. The girl has a super ape torso with giant shoulders and arms and a tranny neck. Never look at this reference again and just spam gestures.

This one is not going to make it

Yeah, loomis' essentially just says to 'feel' it out, which I think is good in the sense that you shouldn't be anal about everything, but also useless when you DO want to be exact and check things over.

Jack hamm has a page about arms and leg arcs, and how the arms' and legs' arcs are tied to height, though I'm not to sure if it'll be useful outside of drawing a straight standing figure, maybe it'll help you?

its just too mechanical, just draw what looks good to you, dont worry so much about all this,
>>
>>7711451
get a 3d model or figma to use as reference
learn perspective and learn how to draw boxes at any angle

Are these autism arcs?

I used my compass from math class back when I did this exercise, but after a while certain important measurements that you use in every drawing become second nature

>>
>>7711542
then study from a book more specifically aimed towards that
>>
>>7711542
just study your favorite artist, screw the books
>>
>>7711575
if you're just aiming to copy a style in a surface level, at that point just use AI and get a lora of the style you want. AI basically does the same thing anyway

This one does not know what a master study is.

He will not make it.
>>
>>7711589
master studies won't work if you don't know the basics in the books retard
>>
>>7711573
Don't i have to master this book first before even attempting to move on to cartooning? Also, what books should i use
>>
Studied Loomis...and other things Kim Jung Gi never did.

Turning art into a chore is a very male failure mode. Meanwhile women who've never heard of this Loomis fellow are making a killing on the market with loose and colorful styles. Why can't hardheaded, frustrated men see the forest for the trees? Is it just an ego thing?
>>
>>7711792
no, this book is one of many that teach anatomy and figure drawing
not all things will make total sense, i mean loomis isn't right there to reexplain things that you might not get
try to shop around for different figure drawing, and probably beginner drawing, books. then, try to look back into this book to see what makes sense or not

You will only improve at cartoons the more you work on fundamentals, doesn’t mean you have to wait until you finish the book to draw cartoons. Take a break from this to study something different for a day and it’ll be easier to get unstuck when you come back.
>>
>>7711792
no, why would you need to master a book to do what you want, do what you want now, dont wait for permission, you've already got permission to do what you actually want
>>
>>7711581
define style, what are you saying? dont copy artists you like?
>>
>>7711451
It's like the other anon said, it's just circles. You also need to know how to draw ellipses.
>>
>>7711808
You are comparing urself to someone who studied for decades

Despite how diagrammed everything looks, it's there to help show the thought process on how to *use* proportions. Doesn't mean you actually have draw this shit out all the time.

As the title of the plate suggests, arcs are useful for maintaining proportion with extended limbs, it's a quick and easy way to think about it, especially in perspective.

This is where some experience in drawing freehand boxes and cylinder helps a lot, you have done that, right?

A few pages later in the book you can see it being used, you can even apply this idea to a simple "stickman".

Eh...

Ive mastered basic shapes but idk how to rotate cubes...

Can I see the art work that you did to memorize this?

Draw some fucking gestures and figures in various poses retard, this isn't math class.
>>
>>7711451
draw the arm in as many angles as you can on the same body. Just do that. Draw shiva
>>
>>7713766
Yeah but what if i dont get the proportions right
