Huston courses are generally a waste of time because he can't shut his mouth, so it's 80% philosophical pseudo-budist rambling and 20% or less of actually drawing. I went through Vilppu, Charles Hu and Karl Gnass NMA courses and they were fine. I seriously doubt his Proko course will be any better than his NMA stuff, because I watched Hampton's nem courses and they are much worse than his old CGMA material.
>>
>>7714653
Yeah Huston definitely has a tendency to ramble but I still love him. He really needs to release another book. I've been working through his figure drawing book and it's much easier to digest than his video content. I prefer books in general these days desu.
>Vilppu
I never finished his NMA courses but I remember them being worse than his OG drawing manual videos. Though to be fair the guy is 80-something years old.

>I'll come back at least with some videos
I'm also open to books. What do you think of Scott Waddell? His own art is awful, but his stuff on youtube has tons of good stuff imo. I haven't watched the video courses he's made though
>>
>>7720181

What? His art is awful? Are we thinking of the same person?
>>
>>7720190
His demos are amazing, his portraits and figures, all the academic stuff. But whenever he wants to get creative and tries to paint a proper painting, not just a head floating in space, he makes the most awful stuff. Scroll through his blog here and post one thing you think is actually good that's not a demo or study:

>scottssketchbook.blogspot.com/2010/10/star-wars-art-visions-has-come-out-and.html

pic related, for instance, is absolute trash on every level.
>>
>>7720198
I mean, there's a weird lack of texture and weight, but I wouldn't call it awful. I've seen awful. And the subject matter is really cool for this piece in particular.
>>
>>7720203
the light makes no sense at all, it's like he's painting an indoors scene. That whale feels like it's no threat at all, like it just gently poked its head out of the water to say hello. The water is a mess, and the two guys on the left show no reaction whatsoever to the whale, "doop doop doop, just casually pulling on a rope here, taking my time...". T

Scott is great at painting micro-features on a portrait, but he has no idea how to compose and execute a scene. Yes, I agree, there's much worse out there, but to me this is awful.
>>
>>7720209
I agree with all of your specific points, but not your conclusion. Maybe it's just cause I wouldn't be able to paint that myself. May I see some of your own work, out of curiosity?
>>
>>7720214
>May I see some of your own work, out of curiosity?

Of course my work is shit compared to his, but he's a former GCA professor, so I judge him by a greater standard than I judge myself. I'm working on getting better though. Btw, I think Scott knows he's shit, that's why now he only shows his academic work and not his "artistic" work.
>>
>>7719361
>Im white, dumb nigger
I'm ethnically German, born and raised near the Rhine. You are, if anything, some amerimutt that identifies with an ancestry it doesnt even understand
>>

>>
>>7720245
Not white then. Thanks for revealing your brown to us.
>>
>>7720258
??
>>
>>7720214
And to further clarify my point: I think Scott had the right idea, that painting was the direction he should have kept on going, doing multi-figure scenes with a strong narrative. Sure he made tons of mistakes but he should have kept on pushing. He spent years studying how to perfectly render single figures under studio lighting, of course he’s going to struggle with a more ambitious composition. The only other person I know attempting such a thing is Carl Dobsky and he also has his flaws, but he keeps on trying.

I think that’s one of the main flaws of these types of atelier, they push you to the utmost level of perfection on just one narrow and very constrained area, and when you step out of that comfort zone you feel the lack of experience. Most people are afraid of that and just stick to what they know, floating heads in the void.
>>
>>7720241
>ethnically German
Such a weird way to phrase it.
>>
>>7716735
I've spent like 3 days looking for it with no results. People keep saying Tonyo but it looks like the password was updated. That being said you can get it off cgpersia without the secret club shit. It's so retarded to treat something that's already leaked twice with this level of obfuscation.

It sort of does? The instructor do mention you needing two different brushes when doing the line practice and another brush when you are doing the blocking/copying exercises, but I can see where you are coming from since both brushes are like hard round pen so it's pretty much the default one.

So that's it? Krenz Kindergarten is just drawing on a grid? Pay attention to the line and shape? I mean it was described as kindergarten so im not sure what to say. 8 videos of people grid drawing is not something i would want to spend money on and I'm glad I didn't. I suppose it will train my accuracy and observational skills.

from my understanding on that site someone pays for a course then every one who wants to get access to said course willingly pays a fraction of the course cost and the money accumulated is then used to buy other courses and so on by the admins ... so i never tried it i was just curios if someone has a testimony or if there is some well known case where people didn't get access to a course or didn't got they're money back, that's all.

He retardedly treated the painting like a drawing and tried to block out and flatten the shadows into one value, which ironically only leads to less values and flattens it. It's most visible in the rightmost forearm.
The worst part is it's unintentional, if he was doing pop art in the style of PS2 graphics it would work but you know he was serious when he was doing it, this is why painting is usually best approached as a totally different beast from drawing, especially academic drawing which are meant to be their own finished pieces and not always used as studies.

Depends on the artist, if it's Japanese, starts in the JP web. When the course reach x sellings, they release it in KR or global.

>>
>>7731643
Looks like you're correct.
As >>7731643 said, Hide's Coloso figure drawing course >>7712622 has wrong titles for the videos. I'm not sure if the source (coloso) mislabeled them, or if there were issues when ripping them. The number of chapters agree with the website, but no guarantee there is no missing videos. The subs match the videos, so they are also mislabeled.

I wonder how many courses on this thread have this kind of issues. I personally just hoard and didn't watch any of them.

any good course learning anatomy but with 3D and not drawing?
>>
>>7732609
Not only that, but Ueda and Hide's methods are directly inspired by Loomis and Bridgman, though more by Loomis. If he's serious about learning the fundamentals, why not go straight to the source?
>>
>>7732657
Have you actually read Loomis? It’s a very dense book. Not that hand-holdy.
I don’t like Hide’s drawings. And key animation in garbage shonen anime doesn’t mean much. But I can see why some people prefer a step-by-step guide to draw modern anime style.
>>
>>7732663

I get it , you don't like Hide .
But you have severely underestimate him.
If it is not obvious now , HIDE is not his real name.

He has long been speculation as one of the art director of major IP. Let's just say he is HUGE in Japan and his identity remain much of a mystery and wild speculation in Japanese forum.
Also I like how you framed shonen anime as garbage. You mean the best selling, most celebrated type of Manga in human history are trash, clearly show much you know about art in general.

someone is clearly jealous and bitter about the success of others , to the point they have to trash rinotuna and hide, literally some of the biggest guys in modern digital art. Last time I check Hide was the advisor for Clip Studio and Rinotuna reportedly has multi millions contract with art instituion.
>>

>>
>>7732711

- ONE PIECE – Key Animation
- Precure Series – Key Animation
- Pokémon Series – Key Animation
- NARUTO Shippuden – Key Animation
- The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls – Key Animation
- Attack on Titan – Key Animation
- My Hero Academia – Key Animation
- That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime – Key Animation
- And many more

Garbage. Shonen. Anime.
They are not know for their quality animation. And it’s not like Hide is the only one doing key animation for these shows.
I’m not sure why you guys act like we haven’t seen drawings from other professional Japanese animators. Legendary and less legendary ones. They are much better than Hide’s. Toshi’s drawings in his books are better than Hide’s.

CAN SOMEONE UPLOAD NEKOJIRA? rapidgator moves so freaking slow
>>
Why are you guys so allergic to torrents? Did you fall for the FUD that no one seeds? Is making your own torrent a lost knowledge?
>>
>>7725508
kek
>>7733122
That anon was talking about a file without a password, but with the name Nekojira. The true Nekojira course with a password is safe, retarded.
>>
>>7733308
zooms can't into piracy
>>
>>7733308
>>7733360
It's never been more ludicrously easy to pirate books, movies, and tv, video courses are so obscure that I'm sorry but not having a streaming site for this yet that uses roaming servers to stay up forever is just dumb and your fault at this point, not people who can't torrent.
>>
>>7733308
Because these "leaked" courses are just free samples. They definitely don't want to turn it to torrent. And prefer it stays as short-term gofile links.
It's all just marketing, anon.
>>
>>7733401
I weep for your generation's computer literacy, I really do.
>>
>>7733303
bump
>>
>>7733451
I can post a image of a downloaded torrent, it won't change the fact that streaming piracy just opens the door more to everyone and is better thanks to not taking up file size.
>>
>>7733517

No, that's retarded. There's no excuses not to stock up on hard drives in this day and age with the prices cheap (for now).
>>
>>7733520
I have no particular reason to have video tutorials saved as it isn't too much of how I learn, but I enjoy the novelty, like watching a Everett Kinstler or Nelson Shanks video of them painting. If you want to save it you can but some of us prefer just watching. I think most people who pay whatever ludicrous amount of cash is asked for these courses don't download it too.
>>
apparently cgp did a complete update on their site and you need to relogin and everything. but it doesn't seem to load. does it work for anyone here? which domain are you using?
>>
>>7733303
Seconded. It's having an absolute mare.
>>
>>7733303
>rapidgator moves so freaking slow
It's beyond me why any legitimate pirate would choose that site.
>>
>>7733843
Monetary incentive.
More DMCA-resistant.
State-mandated. Yes, a lot of piracy is state-supported to mess with other countries’ industries.

no. you likely went on a scam site. cgpeers.com an cgpeers.to are the only cgpeers urls and they're down for maintenance.

>>7733843
It's the only link we have for Nekojira atm. That, and similar websites like alfafile and nitroflare.
>>
>>7733303
it would be here long ago if it existed

not really

wrong anon, buddy

though i understand, right now i'm just very glad i'm not in the hoarding mindset. the only course i still want, really, is mmong's that's been mentioned in this thread. completing them is way more important than having them all
>>
>>7734375
what have you completed thus far
>>
>>7734404
Not him but nothing.
>>
>>7734436
well I'm waiting for his answer then
>>
>>7734444
Not the original poster or the one you replied to but nothing here either. I'm waiting on Ueda.
>>
>>7734404
i'm halfway through marc brunet's course, then i'll just focus on krenz's perspective and light ones until i finish them. they're pretty big investments. my original reply sounded sort of shitty ig but like. it's good to learn. hoarding a million courses wont automatically make one better and all that
>>
>>7734497
Art school always felt like a mess to me.
>>
>>7734127
I weep for the reading comprehension of you niggeranons
>>
timbougami's is THE one
>>
Does anyone have this by any chance?
https://cole487.gumroad.com/l/tutorials?layout=profile

It's 5 bucks but gumroad refuses to let me pay because of politics.

You probably deserve it.

What's the best course, anon?

let's all just go draw

Right after nekojira drops in a few days.

For anons who are doing/done Krenz kindergarten have you managed to grab the extra files in the "beginners practicing tracing" section?
>>
>>7712612
There was a video course someone posted on here on digital art painting, but all I remember about it specifically was that there were three versions. One for Photoshop, Krita and Procreate. Anyone know which one it was?

>any good course learning anatomy but with 3D and not drawing?
There's a bunch in Rutracker.
-Uartsy Artistic Anatomy in Zbrush
-Uartsy Dynamic Figure Sculpting with Steve Lord
-Uartsy Female Figure Sculpting
-Uartsy Male Figure Sculpting in Zbrush.

All of Scott Eaton's courses are great too, he specifically has a sculpting one, but as he says in the course, it's better if you do drawing exercises too, like his regular head anatomy and body anatomy require.
He's the GOAT for me, for learning anatomy, but you do need some fundamentals, and have a lot of references saved, already in order to do his courses fully.

Learning both 2d and 3d, imo, is the most effective way to become an advanced or pro artist, it helps you understand the forms much bettter, and you memorize everything, from different angles, in a more effective way, as you are actually "learning" what the body is doing more than simply memorizing everything.

The 'gram said nekojira this month which apparently meant the very last day of the month.
>>
>>7737081
I don't post my stuff in here, for obvious reasons, I used to back in 2019, but not anymore.
But Scott Eaton is "The Guy" who the game companies always hire to do anatomy bootcamps for their employees, and he has been "The Guy" for more than a decade now:
https://www.scott-eaton.com/2025/epic-games-masterclass#more-7687

And Scott recommends both doing 3d, and 2d, in order to learn anatomy properly. You can take my advice, or don't, it doesn't really matter.
>>
>>7737604
So basically you’re larping and parroting some random /pro/ on 4chan. Does this really makes you happy?
>>
>>7737723
>Does this really makes you happy?
Knowing that you won't follow my advice out of spite? yes, indeed.
See you in the /beg/ thread 4 years from now.
