How much money are you guys making from your art in a year?
i sell drugs
About 3000-5000 bucks
>>7715471Nice. How long did it take to reach that?
>>7715459I have 170,000 likes in my savings accounts
>>7715471i make 5k a year doing nothingdont even have to pay rent
>>7715459about 8000
>>7715486Let me guess, drawing porn? Is it worth it?
None, and I'm not sure I'd even want to make any from it
>>7715490>drawing pornNo, i just suck dicks on discord and post myself crossdressing.Maybe upload a slop generated pic once a week and get free patreon money.>is it worth itI have no soul but sure, come join my misery, friend, you're totally going to be rich too
>>7715494Har har, wagecuck.
>>7715459Does 3d count? I make around 14k a month
First worlders are so lucky.
>>7715498holy shit blog?
>>7715498It sure does. Do you just make porn or other things as well?
>>7715479A bit over a year from starting I started to get constantly commed.
>>7715534You have a cute style. Congrats on your progress.
>>7715459Enough to pay off my car in a year so that's pretty great
>>7715482But you could be making 10k a year, if you made another 5k drawing. That's leaving money on the table anon.
>>7715459$0
-200k in debt from art actually.
>>7715459This year, none, next year, at least 70k
>>7715619Uh...wat
>>7715619Lmao, let me guess buying citiq, ipad and graphics cards at /beg/ stage.
>>7715459This year? About 500 bucks but I'm still delusional>>7715661What's happening next year anon?
>>7715459no one commissions me and I spend all my money paying other artists
>>7715459a grand total of zero monies, drawing porn disgusts me and sfw commissions are dead.
>>7715459Zero. I have a real job, art is just a hobby.
>>7715459about tree fiddy
>>7715459Each year is different, worst case scenario 12-15k$ best case scenario 28-38k$Doing game art environmental art or character animation.
60k drawing pornPlatform fees and taxes takes like 12k or it though
>>7716224Do you supplement with a part-time job?
>>7716234I live in eastern europe, the income tax here is 10%+400$ for healthcare/year500$ is enough for me to live comfortably so I don't have to get an IRL job.
>>7716240I almost feel like art dying in the west has to do a lot with only retard failsons having the financial security to do it.
>>7715619>200k in debt from art actually.Art School?
>>7715459I make nothing on art but to be fair my productivity sucked this year
>>7716408Yes
>>7715459So far 120 dollars for one comm this year...
>>7716372Just move to a poor country, work remotely doing art and ur gonna be one of the richest, is that simple.
i-i do it for passion not for m-money....
>>7715459two shawarma and one coke
>>7715459a couple wanted to pay me for a portrait and I said I'll do it for free.I am an idiot... guess that's why I felt more attracted to art instead of making it big in STEM.With canvases and paints I'd probably be at -500€ minimum
>>7715619Calarts?
>>7715459$0.00 for thishttps://www.youtube.com/live/r-_mfJKfgAU?si=vmu0F7xI5-mlA8dN

>>7716408>200K>For Art SchoolTaking on debt for a Uni course that isn't almost guaranteed to get you a job, should have an age limit, like you need to be at least 25 or something. This shit feels like it takes advantage of young people's naivety or lack of maturity to make money, and it's fucking gross.
>>7715619negative debt is actually just positive money, isn't it?
>>7717329I've been thinking about this a lot recently as someone somewhat in school and how your kinda just pressured to get a degree even if it wont get you anywhere just because "having the paper is a benefit". And the whole thing just feels like a generational scam where each generation that got scammed pushes the next deeper into to justify a sunk cost fallacy. Young adults shouldn't have to force themselves into debt to reasonably start the next stage of life
>>7717640But they learn so much important stuff in school, like indigenous science and groomology.
>>7715459negative $1000-ish. i don't sell my art but i aggressively commission my peers, being an HVACR tech pays well enough.
>>7717640The thing is it WAS (and actually still is) a benefit, but since everybody's getting the same advice to go to college there's a lot of college graduates competing for the same openings and a lot of shitty colleges handing out degrees to accommodate the demands. It still generally beats only having a high school diploma.
>>7717319>>7717263Skill issue.
>>7715619>splurged on the 150-color prisma set
>>7715459over 200k not telling how tho :)
>>7715459I branched out to 3d in fear of ai back a few years ago, not sure if it was worth it in terms of my initial fears coming true (they didnt) but through basically what is part-time commission work i made at least 10-15k a year for 2 years each which was great because i'm under 25 and in my shithole country in europe we dont pay income tax until then, and otherwise this money allows me to live like a king because the price of living is balls low here anyways. Maybe got a little dusty on my 2d skills but I still often sketch out more complex models before doing them, even if i deviate from the original idea in the actual modeling phase.Unfortunately now im eating shit and barely gonna make 2-3k by the end of this year because my lazy easy money niche got exposed and flooded by competitors. Not giving up though, i already diversified with more skills and am on my way to the next medium. If you produce endless constant slop to combat the competitors in my previous niche you can probably still get by, but i didnt want to lower myself like that nor do i recommend it to anyone else unless you are indian bugman cattle.
>>7722005Are you in Hungary or something? I heard about that place in a book. Wild stuff.
>>7715494how are your patreon tiers set up?
this year ive made 40 dollars. last year i made 3900. cest la vie
>>7715482I make $240k a year and work 40 hours a week.
>>7723988nta but what do you do?
>>7715459Maybe only about 600? I draw dick portraits
>>7724031Unironically gender surgeries. The demand for them is skyrocketing.
>>7724068Are you serious? How does that even work?
>>7716229what platform do you use?
>>7715459I make nothing, only ever did it as a hobby, even when people asked me for art o DeviantArt I'd do it for free, only ever got a few requests anyways because I've always sucked, so I only really draw for myself. It's comfortable.
>>7715459Per year around 4800 usd
8.23 a month
>>7724069It's tragic when your morals stop you from getting big money easily, can't gamble (i understand this usually doesn't work), can't daytrade, can't draw nsfw, can't perform cosmetic surgery (or go on the path to become one). I go as far as to believe working in any large immoral company (FAANG/GAYMAN) isn't on the table...
>>7727822what do you draw anon
>>7729798Cheugy millennial plaphogs.
>>7727999>It's tragic when your morals stop you from getting big money easilyit's actually very nice. There are a million pleasant ways of making good money
>>7715459made like 1.5k the last year, i stopped doing commissions because it was killing my passion for art.
I make like 6k a year from my "real" job and work 58 hours a week (sometimes more). I wish a were a broke, shut-in artist.
>>7725798>>7716229>>7715459i am also intrested what platforms are you guys usingto not get scammed? just paypall invoice?
>>7732291I have first time clients use either DA shop commissions or Pixiv Requests. The site acts as the middle man so neither artist nor client can screw each other over. For trusted returning clients I give direct PayPal option.
>>7732698this is very imformative may i ask if the site actually sees the piece you are submitting?
>>7732820Pixiv sees it, DA doesnt
About 6500 from drawing at work.
>>7732843QRD?
>>7717319How did you get such a big following on YouTube anon?
>>77220053D sloppers are not real artist. Get lost, freak.
>>7735963why the hate for 3D on here, fuck
enough to get fukced by taxes
Zero. zero zeor cent
>>7715459Zero dollars. I have never even tried to do comissions.
zero dollars and zero cents
>>7738011>>7738012>>7738206Fucking how? Do you guys just not do comms?
>>7715459Nothing. I don't charge for my art. My art is free for everyone and everyone is entitled to it because art is meant to be shared. Just dm your idea and I'll get to it eventually. So really the real cost with me is time because it could be tomorrow or next year that I deliver >>7738683I don't. I just do requests. Although, it does piss me off a little when I see a client show off a commission they bought while I make something for them. I do get being excited to share but I would prefer after my thing is done.
>>7738683is getting comms easy for you or something? i've been drawing for a while and while i'm still mediocre i've never been approached for commissions. then again i'm not really putting my art out there too much. do you think making some shitty twitter then uploading daily will result in some amount of consistent money for the average poster here?
>>7738917i'd recommend starting a patreon along with saying you're open to commissions in your profile on sl sites. have a link to your patreon page in your bio too.
>>7715619Grandma on my father side had a huge debt like that, less than you tho, she always tried to pay it but she's a stay at home mom so she barely paid anything, then she got ill and never paid her debt...
>>7738917>do you think making some shitty twitter then uploading dailyMost my comms come from Deviant Art and Pixiv. What DA and Pixiv have over Twitter and other algorithm based sites is that they let user search and see everything with the sought tags while with algoithm based sites have the algorithm to decide if your art gets shown or not. When I started, it took my 3 months and I got my first comm. You jsut need to tag your work correctly and have the fans of the niche and fetish to find and pick you up. Naturally you will want to pick a fetish you have personal passion for and show your knowledge of the subject and scene.People comm art that tickles their funny bone. Technical skill is not that important but subject, execution and presentation is. People won't pay you for stuff they can get from 99% of the internet for free. They will pay you for stuff they can only get from you.So brand yourself, show your passion, show your knowledge, make yourself available. In Pixiv and DA it shows on your handle or hovering mouse over the hand if you available for in-site comms. When viewer see you for the first time and picks up your art and starts to follow, if they can see you take comms, their brain synops connect the dopamine of finding new artist to follow with the fact that they are also available to draw personalized handcrafted wank material.
>>7738969i've never really used deviantart before. I appreciate you man, I really need more money. Any niche enough fetishes you'd recommend gitting gud at? I really have few limits, i'll draw pretty much whatever for money.
>>7738683NO ONE ASKS ME FOR COMMISSIONS.IM A NO NAME. DO YOU ASK FOR COMMISSIONS TO NO NAMES? NO RIGHT? FUCK YOU.
>>7738974>Any niche enough fetishes you'd recommend gitting gud at? The one you have personal fetish for. Then step up to cover larger umbrella subject that includes the fetish. I know one anon who was starting and he drew very mainstream stuff but the second he succumbed to his fat fetish and drew few pics of the subject, his follower numbers sky rocketed and his comm queue filled in instant.Trust me, you want the fetish/niche to be something ypu have personal passion for
>>7738981Make yourself a name. When audience sees your gallery they need to be able to tell what's your sector, what's your turf. If it's all over the place, you wont connect personally.
>>7738985Thats really hard when youre like me and you dont want to draw smut, and what little smut I am willing to draw is so vanilla and bland no one gives a shit, so Ive just defaulted to draw whatever I want, I just gave up and searched for a job and will probably keep drawing as a hobby.SFW commissions are dead unless youre already big, and the only consistent clients are waifufags, which are also weebs, who dont like wester style shit like what I do.Nothing matters.
>>7738989So you don't have market value. You got what you deserved.
>>7738992Fuck you too.
>>7738993I will cry over your words all the way to my PayPal
>>7738989Listen man. It doesn't have to be over for you. Even as someone who loves nsfw works, I genuinely respect you for sticking to your guns. There are SFW artists who are making TONS of fuckin' money by making hype content. You just need to be pretty fucking good, and you won't be able to get away with just drawing images. You'll have to make animatics. Not as difficult as animating, but still harder than just drawing. I highly recommend, as cancer as it sounds, to download instagram and only follow successful art accounts, then just copy those fuckers. Check out lapiz_lancer, he's a perfect example of what I'm talking about. Fucker's like 20 and mogs me into the ground, but if you can draw anything like that, try copying some of the concepts. Follow trends. Idfk. Godspeed
>>7739027Looks like he does fanart, which is fucking gay.
>>7739127People are not intrested to pay you to draw your characters. They want either popular characters they like or their own OCs
>>7739147plenty of artists get paid to draw original stories and characters, dude. obviously not artists who do "comms", but that's a crazy waste of skill.
>>7715459I once made 20 bucks from my art, paid as an amazon gift card... I think it was last year. Felt good. Then I thought I should do more commissions. But then I got really obsessed over what my art account name should be and what stuff I should post and then I chose a name, wasn't happy with it and never posted again. I don't wanna pay paypal for a business account just so potential clients won't see my real name. I'm too paranoid for this stuff.
>>7739652>don't wanna pay paypal for a business account just so potential clients won't see my real nameUse Pixiv Requests and DeviantArt Shop commissions. The site acts as the middleman and neither you nor client can see each other's personal info
>>77154591000$ give or take I only really do this as a hobby
>>7717210its fucked up but sometimes I wish I was born one of those south american or eastern european anons. where they learn english by being terminally online and make their money by drawing for western commissioners to take advantage of their currency's conversion rate. I know it's probably not all it's cracked up to be, but I can still idealize it as the american idiot that I am.
>>7715459Zero but I do believe after I finish my portfolio and comic people willrealise that my work is genius and I will become famous and applauded for being innovative and unique
>>7715459to date this year I have spent roughly $800 on a new tablet and commissioning a few of my art frens to help with an animation I released. in another paycheck I'll do the next one.
>>7739888Thank you for the advice!!!! Gonna do that
>>7734709Nothing really too deep about it. I have hours of free time that work pays me to have every day so I get paid to draw. I've also gotten paid a few times from coworkers for simple requests.
Just got my first client! I made about 20,000 yen. I want to make passive money from patreon/fanbox/subscribe star instead of doing commissions. I'm still really small though, only 1k followers. How many followers translate to $40,000 a year reliably?
>>7739652>I don't wanna pay paypal for a business account just so potential clients won't see my real name. You dont have to pay for that, I did for free.
>>7740067>its fucked up but sometimes I wish I was born one of those south american or eastern european anonsYou dont.
