how is this the most popular abstraction for the face planes. like look at that nose, would it have been so much work to make the nostrils even kind of accurate in a model that's going to be crabbing people for generations

reilly head is the most popular and what people actually teach and use. people just make a few studies of the asaro and never think about it again.

I've heard people mention the Asaro Head FAR more than the Reilly method for either planes or just drawing the head in general.

doesn't matter, go look up tutorials and watch how people actually draw, it's ain't asaro. the reilly method it just easier and more flexible, people use variations of it even if they don't know the name or exact formal methodology because it is so obvious and practical. asaro is a garbage abstraction and unused in practice no matter how much a few instructors glaze it.
