Why you should not trust youtube shills:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH1WEYF8rlA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Twy5Wo8m284

Do not worry pressure levels. 1024 is more than enough.
Remember to ignore all chinese shills. They often post paid twitter promos from random artists. It's all shilling, ignore it.

Recommended tablets:

>Screenless:
Used Intuos 3, 4, 5, Pro, One by Wacom

>Display:
Small (10-11"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite
Medium (12-16"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S8/S9 Ultra, used iPad Pro 12.9" Gen 1-5
Large (22"+): Cintiq 22, Cintiq Pro 27

Avoid:

>XP-Pen, Huion, Gaomon and every other Chinese brand making Wacom imitations
Poor build quality, pens with wavy lines, wobbly nibs, broken tilt, issues registering light pressure, terrible customer support, uncalibrated displays. All Chinese brands have the same problems. Check out the webm to understand how bad they are.
Do not be fooled by myths like "Chink companies are just as good as Wacom now" - they've been saying this for over 10 years, nothing has changed.
Chinese companies have also been proven to shill on 4chan. You will see dozens upon dozens of posts in this thread by a chinese schizo shill, who will either be bitching about the OP, gaslighting as a Wacom fan, making pointless spam posts or giving terrible advice (like recommending Huion). Just ignore and report him.

>New iPads
Massively overpriced and overhyped.

>Microsoft Surface Pro
More optimized for palm rejection than good quality drawing. Wobbly lines when drawing slow and straight.

>Cintiq 13-16"
Completely outclassed by the Galaxy Tab Ultra & iPad

>Cintiq Pro 16, 24, 32
Overpriced, QC issues, loud fans, proprietary mount interface

>Lenovo
Worse than Samsung in every way.

Is the Galaxy Tab S11 a meaningful upgrade over the S10?
>>
Hello! I wanted to post a review of anyone is indecisive. I bought the galaxy tab s6 lite after you guys spoke so highly of it and I highly recommend it. It's cheaper on amazon than it is on the samsung website. This is my first tablet but I already see my art shooting forward in quality. This was one of the first sketches I made. It may not be fantastic by ic standards but this is one of the best portrait sketches I've made. 10/10 super smooth and portable. Thank you guys for this great recommendation

>Avoid Lenovo - Bad drawing performance.
Is that really true?
>>
>>7722413
Yes, the Galaxy Tab S11 is definitely a meaningful upgrade over the S10! The S11 brings a more powerful processor, better display with higher resolution, and improved support for multitasking, which makes it a smoother experience for both drawing and general use. The updated S Pen is also more responsive with improved pressure sensitivity, and you get more storage options. If you’re into digital art or graphic design, the S11’s display and overall performance will give you a noticeable boost in quality and efficiency. If you’re already happy with the S10, it might not be a huge leap, but for creative work, the S11 is a solid step forward.

did you draw this?
>>
why is drawing with pen displays/tablets so awkward
>>
>>7722832
Disconnect Between Hand and Eye: When you're drawing on a tablet, you're looking at the screen but your hand is not directly on it. This creates a disconnect because you’re drawing in one place (the tablet) while your eyes are focused somewhere else (the screen). It takes some time to get used to this spatial separation.
>>
>>7722832
Lack of Physical Feedback: With traditional paper and pencil, you get tactile feedback—your hand feels the texture of the paper, and you can see the pencil's resistance as you draw. With tablets, especially smooth-glass ones, you don’t get that same kind of resistance, which can make drawing feel less natural.
>>
>>7722832
Different Posture: On a traditional canvas, you're likely sitting comfortably with your arm resting, while with tablets, you're often in a different posture—either hunched over, holding the stylus at an angle, or trying to find a comfortable position that feels “right.” These physical differences can make it feel less intuitive.

Does anyone have a wacom movink13 and if so how is it? I've wanted to upgrade to a display tablet from my intous for a long while along with also having a portable option for digital drawing but i loathe being locked into the android or ios ecosystem bullshit. And while i'm not completely against getting an android/ipad tablet a major reason i haven't the last few years specifically cause i can't use it with my computer when not out and about. For a while now i've been thinking the movink 13 could be good as a tabletdisplay+thinlaptop placed together in a unifying case for portable drawing, albeit with some obvious compromises like being a slightly bulkier/heavier total package, likely worse battery, etc, but those are fine be me.

There are pros to cons to each. The sliders/wheels are kind of annoying to use consistently. Most are quite overpriced. Personally, I need a lot of keys, obvious buttons for easier muscle memory and good hand ergonomics, so the Razer gaming pads (Tartarus / Orbweaver / Nostromo) are the best for me. Just need an extra knob or scroll wheel or two and it would be perfect. Used ones are cheap, and often they are barely used because they only use it a couple of times.
>>
>>7724401
i think you can use mdp with your pc too
>>

there's no wobble and excellent pressure sensitivity iirc, but wacom remain superior in terms of IAF
>>
Weird question, but is there like a pen display with a pen that feels more like a pencil? One of the things I like to do when I draw traditionally is to angle the pencil to get lines of varied thickness and hardness. Is there a device that replicates this, shape included?
>>
>>7724410
I used a number pad with AutoHotKey, and it was a hassle. Now I'm using a macro keyboard I bought for around $30 on AliExpress (picrel) and it works like a charm.
The only limitation is the software. Photoshop is buggy as hell when it comes to keyboard shortcuts. Multiple key inputs will almost certainly trigger something you don't want. The only workaround I’ve found is changing most shortcuts to single keys (e.g. switching the Undo command from Ctrl + Z to F3)
>>
Generally how is the used Wacom tablet buying experience? To me it seems like it’d normally be worth the extra money to buy new and have everything working but damn there’s such a discrepancy in price between the new Wacoms and the listings I see on poshmark, ebay etc. Do people tend to take care of their shit or is it worth just paying extra to avoid troubleshooting some issue created by the previous owner spilling cheeto dust all over their tablet? Any blatant red flags to look out for?
>>
>>7725264
It's easy to find barely used ones. Unwanted gifts, used only a couple of times then put away in the closet, lost the pen so they couldn't use it, used for a while but it's too hard/they lost interest, they upgraded to a bigger one, studios and school selling off big batches of them. Lots of good deals on ones missing the stylus too. The names are often misspelled too, you can get better deals on those ones too since less people see the listing. Easy 50-75% discount if you look hard enough.
The surface can get scratched up but you can replace them. Sometimes the buttons break. The cables or port can break/get loose easily so watch out for that. Quick solder repair job can fix them. Older ones have good build quality, so they are never actually completely broken.
>>
>>7725287
Appreciate the response, I can definitely see why there’d be a surplus of tablets out there now but it just seemed almost too good to be true at first because the value is insane compared to buying new. Feels like highway robbery.

The wacom pencil is better, yes you still have to replace the nibs but I replace it once in a blue moon, as for charging the battery for the apple pencil? You probably have to do it everyday or atleast once a week if very very generous. The apple pencil will be more annoying in the long term simply because you have to charge and reconnect/disconnect all the time instead of just using it when you want like wacoms pen on a movinkpad (which has an inferior but still workable spec but were just talking about the pencils)

What's the point in pen displays? If you have to connect it to a laptop/desktop that already has a display, why not save money and get a regular screenless tablet? Seems kinda wasteful to drop hundreds just to have your existing display mirrored on another screen. Like just look up.

2021 HUION KAMVAS 16 any good? was thinking about that or spending a lil less for the XPPEN artist 13.3 inch
>>
>>7730876
As someone who uses a display and screenless tablet I think there are benefits to both. I ink much faster on a display tablet and I have a better color range that I use to calibrate my other monitors, and screenless tablets are better for sketching since there's less input lag and I can use it as a replacement for my mouse which feels more comfortable. I think the big draw for display tablets is that it's more like physically drawing so if you come from a traditional art background you can paint in a way that's natural to you, kinda like how graphic tablets went from digitizer pucks to a stylus because that's more intuitive. But if you're using a tablet without a screen and you're satisfied there's really no need to spend money on a display, it's just a preference that some have.
>>

A while ago, I was given an iPad, but it was a horrible experience because of its closed ecosystem and the high prices of accessories. Do you know of any tablets that are good for drawing?
>>
>>7735620

for portable tech ipad is (perhaps sadly) still on top

(most of) the rest run on android, and android itself aims to be a walled garden itself starting in 2026. and for the location testing they picked countries that likely rely on foss or modded .apks for a living. besides clip studio paint, ibispaint, huashijie pro and infinite painter on it's good days for painting and superdisplay and easycanvas for mirroring, i can't think of a good art app on android. which might be plenty for you but not for me

samsung gave up competing with apple when it comes to tablets, downgrading internals and externals even in their top-of-the-line products. at this point they might ditch the wacom digitizer in tab s12 series. as it is at the moment still okay for drawing, and my experiences skew towards positive, but i wish i bought an ipad instead, which i eventually did, aiming for bigger and better ones currently

wacom movinkpad and xp-pen magic drawing pad gen2 exist. though comparable to low to mid end e-waste, made by companies actually catering to artists with better drawing technology at least. iirc in japan movinkpad is beloved, and xp-pen drivers recognize the magic drawing pad gen2 so you can use it as a display tablet on a computer

newer huawei hardware are amazing and so is their in house art app gopaint, but the rest of software and aftereffects of the sanctions can still be felt. they also completely ditched android, and with how hard the west sanctioned/is sanctioning huawei, i doubt there'd be good apps on harmonyos next in the west.

honor, oneplus and xiaomi are waaay behind compared to aforementioned brands and are for notetaking at best
>>
>>7735741

and accessories will be a worse deal once you leave that walled garden. at least for appleslop there are good 1st and 3rd party options at various pricepoints. the rest of the crop are either stuck with expensive 1st party options or a 3rd party keyboard case(read: a magnetic faux leather folio that degrades, and degrades faster in hotter geographies, and a magnetic bluetooth keyboard with embedded battery that dies within the month of purchase). only official accessory you'd need to draw is an apple pencil gen1/gen2/pro, there are reputable accessory brands for appleslop for half the price, and you can go on aliexpress, temu or dropshitters that drop shit from the two if taxes are an issue, for even cheaper slop

My Wacom Intuos S works fine
My "One by Wacom" (which just as an aside is a retarded name when you also have something called the Wacom One) is temperamental and sometimes doesn't have enough "field" above the tablet surface to detect the pen. When it works, it's nice though, though I prefer my screened tablet.
For the screenless tablets, be prepared to learn hand-eye coordination. You can do good work with them, but lines may take you a few tries compared to a screened tablet or pencil-on-paper. Protip, you can put a piece of paper on them if you want that authentic feel.

Wondering if there is any meaningful upgrades to the XPPen Aritst Pro 14 within a 600 dollar price range? Main issues being unnatural feeling pressure curves and feeling inaccurate due to parallax, even if it's not very glaring or extreme. Trying to control line weight feels suicide inducing, not sure if it's a skill issue or hardware issue. I saw that there was a Cintiq 16 on sale for 500 usd, but I am discouraged by the idea of an on paper absolute sidegrade, so i'm looking for a considerable improvement in accuracy.

haha I came into this thread just to ask what a good beginner tablet is because my current draw pad seems kinda bad and I see that my current tablet is listed on the one to avoid. Its very small dimmensions wise and I think it affects the lines Im actually trying to draw so I'm looking for something better. Based on the OP and looking at Amazon I see an Intuo 4 for 53$, would that be a good tablet to upgrade to?
>>
>>7740799
Why would you "upgrade" to an over two decade old unsupported tablet?
>>
>>7740799
I owned an intuos 4 and it wasn't the best experience, I wasn't able to do perfectly smooth lines, there was wobble even with a ruller

i'm not the only one who thinks the new intuos pro's are redundant with the previous versions right? besides being smaller for portability there's not much changes. the drawing sensitivity is exactly the same even and it appears they switched to lower quality batteries. the slightly bigger active area didn't feel that much different on the medium at least

also the movink13 was so close to my ideal tablet, it's just too small. i get that it's made for portability above all, but if they made a bigger/pro version i'd replace the aging cintiq pro with it. it makes me wonder if this thing is actually selling well that they'd make a higher tier model or if this is an experimental one-off.

The thread OP is garbage.

If you're looking for a screenless tablet I'd suggest any XP PEN that mentions using X3 chip or any Huion that uses Pentech 3.0.

I had a screenless tablet for two years now and it STILL feels like its too slipper and the pressure sensitivity is too much.
I dont think it will get better. I feel im doing something wrong, this cannot be the whole screenless tablet experience.
>>
>>7743551
its complex because when it comes to screenless tablet, it wasnt the tablet itself that you need to consider but some external things like the size of your desk, your hand drawing angle to draw a curve, your tablet position (whether its in front of your keyboard or beside your keyboard), space for you hand-rest so that you can have more confident sketch and didnt produce a wobbly lines in your canvas, and naturally larger space in everything = better drawing experience. but most of the time, stuff like this are inconvenient if you're a sketcher, doodler, or lineart guy who wants to get a complete and total control on your linework.
your problem with screenless is probably lies in one of those thing,

try liquid for removing bugs from car hoods, just do a test first preferably on the back of tablet to see if it doesnt reacts with that plastic in weird way. It shouldnt but still.
its very good product, if its safe for car paint clear coat it shoulnt be that crazy on plastic, and it removes all kind of things not only bus\gs, like solidified tar, and tree resin.I used it especially for tree resin, because it couldnt come off with anything and I was going crazy, then this product just wiped it clean, and leaft no damage on clear coat. Its very cheap too, but if you actually use it, do it in room with opened windows, I think its pretty headache inducing, so it cant be healthy to huff it in closed roon.

I’m happy with mine, fun to use but I have no reference point regarding standalone tablets. It's my first one after using screen tablets. Long battery like 8+ active hours drawing. I'm drawing very tradlike in digital so idk about huge drawing files in resource heavy programs. I made sure to get the android 14 version because it has tilt.
It’s my "on the road" or ”sketch smth quick without setup” tab. For a planned project I still use my PC Screen tablets.

Not sure if it's the best choice but it works well for what I use it.

Is this your main device? I have the 14.6" ultra and find it unwieldy to use anywhere other than my desk (which defeats the purpose of having an all in one portable tablet imo). Honestly unless your ipad is lagging or something I'd say keep it and save your money.

Im thinking of getting a large Intuos. But how big is too big? I'm worried that I might not get used to it, I currently use a medium tablet. Could anyone share their experience with a large one? Is it really worth it or do you regret buying it?
>>
>>7756457
It depends on the size of your main monitor and the distance from your eyes.

For me, at arms length, a 12" area used to feel good on a 24" screen, but not so good on my new 31.5".
Then I moved to a Kamvas 13 gen3 (I rarely use its screen), and its 13.3" feel good again when drawing on my 31.5" monitor.

A 14-16 would probably feel better but I can push this under the screen and have desk space for stuff.
Anything beyond 16 probably starts being too big for screenless use. There was some guy who had made a chart of tablet size vs feel, but I don't remember where.

I want a tablet that has a lot of processing power and a big display, but I only want it for drawing, digital sculpting (probably with zbrush), and at most for reading online comics. The reading comics thing is completely optional. I really just care about drawing and sculpting. Getting an ipad seems like a waste to me as I am completely uninterested in all of the additional features and honestly would find them to be a nuisance if anything. What are my best options for something that is really focusing entirely on maximizing the drawing and sculpting and stylus experience? I don't think you're ever going to completely eliminate it, even with the heaviest-duty arms. It's just material science and elastic torsion at that point. My arms are stable enough where they don't move if I slam the desk they're affixed to, but when I have my tablet's arm extended for drawing, it WILL wobble slightly if I hit it, and there is some play if I apply lateral forces. I usually just grip it to stabilize it.

Huanuo arms, if you're curious. Something about "heavier duty, ultrawide monitors"

I want to get XP-Pen Deco 640 (i readt the op (not the links) and im more of a fucking tourist so i dont mind trying a bit on some chinese crap to see how it goes) so is it wort it 3,999rsd (like ~34,13euros) + i get:
10x pen heads
1 x USB-C to USB-A cable
1 x USB to USB-C adapter
1 x Extractor for tips

huion640 same shit and cheaper, activation force 3g, weird pressure curve (!).
Most important surface is not sand paper, anyeay all china brends almost same, so if you lucky enough you can get better than wacom tablet for 1/3 price or utter unusable shit.
Good luck.
>>
why do all wacom AES 2.0 styli start at 50$? What is so advanced in these things? Aren't they basically just little transmitters with most of the tech being in the display itself?
>>
>>7757991
Frankly... Yeah.
I just dont know what it is, some people deal well with pen display and some can never get the hang of it. I myself think that if you wanna use it it's probably best when you already got your fundies cause putting the disconnect on top of all the shit you gotta learn is frustrating and you never know if its cus you gotta get used to the tablet or not.
Also, a dude who uses them told me even if you get used to them, fucking up lines is normal cus ghosting on a pen tablet is way different from on paper or display.

What do you guys think of samsung s9 fe? Think it's a good first digital tablet?
>>
>>7764897
i think screen is sourced from galaxy tab, this device looks like slighlty modified galaxy tab ultra with few changes. With 14 inch screen it will be longer than 13inch ipad with same width, i dont have problem with ipad width but that extra inch of lenght will be welcome, im using clip stuidio with 1 floating window for reference, on ipad sometimes it feels bit akward to use like that. Im thinking about swaping, i could flip my ipad air 13 with apple pencil for that wacom. Worse APU, more ram, much better screen, bigger, more memory, sd card, and normal stylus with matte screen. Im suprised with that price desu, less than galaxy tab ultra

Is 12GB RAM on an ipad pro a bad idea? Should I go for 16GB for more layers in Procreate?
>>
Is deco 01 v2 good?
I have it lying arround but goddamn its hard.
K am obviously a beginner, been working on my mark making first but lines i easily do on paper i have to do 4-5 times on it and it kinda takes away from other shit i have to learn. You guys think its worth sticking to it or should i go trad?
I hear screen tablets should have at least 16 inches and those are almost 1000 dollars where i live
>>
>>7766451
13 inch is ok for screen, 16 is sweet spot. At least where I live used screen tablets are really cheap, you could easily find used Huion, XP pens for around 100-200usd. Try your local ebay or facebook marketplace

I'm torn between the Intuos pro med or the xenlabs, I've hear terrible things about both... Is the xenlabs any good? Anyone here with a few years of experience using it? Preferably if you swithed from an Intuos
>>
>>7766704
get the incellabs, it sounds cool
>>
>>7766734
>Sounds
That's the problem, everything sounds great with 50 YouTube shills singing praises about your product. I actually plan to use it for drawing, unlike you no-draw faggot.

Sadly, people sell used for 90% of price here...
Also, i cant find older versions so i can only find the 2.5k versions which are more expensive.
