have you ever thought about becoming a tattoo artist? It's one of the most lucrative ways to make money as an artist.
>>7724354but then you have to interact with people that get tattoos
>>7724358true. besides that, if you fuck it up they might want to murder you.
I have a parlor that only tats plaphogs. That's literally our specialty.
>>7724354I've thought of it, but no.I have no plans to get a tattoo myself, and I don't think I could tattoo other people without knowing what it feels like.
>>7724389Yeah, it's the same for me. I wouldn't mind tattooing others but I really don't want anything permanent grafted into my skin. And I think tattoos only look good when they are recently done (as in, hours before) and are still saturated/dark. Once the skin has healed the ink automatically loses something and it just doesn't look that nice anymore.
>>7724422Depends on the artist and their technique and their ink and equipment but these days color tattoos can and do retain their extreme brightness for years after. This is why it's important to choose and wait for the artist you want, and pay them top dollar. All tattoos can be touched up later as well. >>7724354>have you ever thought about becoming a tattoo artist? Yep was practicing for a long while, didn't pursue it for a few different reasons that I don't feel like typing about, but none of them have anything to do with 4chan's standard set of lies about tattooers and people who get tattooed. i.e. that they're all criminals, druggies, whores, and the worst people you know.
>>7724354yes, but then I remembered I'd have to touch and smell sweaty fat peopleit's probably sweet if you're big enough to choose your clients, though
I hate tattoos. Another sign of modern western degeneration.
>>7724493>yes, but then I remembered I'd have to touch and smell sweaty fat peopleYou don't have to, you can turn clients and work down, no one can force you to tattoo a person. Tattoo artists of all levels decline work. Plus you're wearing gloves.
>>7724440whats the actual drawing process like? Is it all meticulously pre-planned or do you just draw like you would on a regular canvas?
>>7724509It's a combination of both, depending on your artist, their style, their experience level, or what you're getting tattooed. These days way more planning goes into tattoos than what it was like just twenty years ago, because of the use of technology. But at its most basic, you talk to the customer, look at any artwork they've brought in, make sure you understand their idea. You draw the tattoo on paper, or if you're tech savvy you can do it in drawing/photo editing software, if they're not satisfied you make changes and if they're stoked you turn it into a stencil to be applied to their skin and you follow and tattoo over the stencil. Super experienced artist will freehand a tattoo, drawing an outline directly onto the skin and then tattooing over the drawing, or if it's a simple shape they may not even bother with an outline or stencil.
>>7724440I wouldn't mind doing it, but I don't really want tattoos myself. Would it be necessary to have one? Maybe I can just lie about having a skin condition or something that makes it so I can't get one.
>>7724581It's not a requirement. I know of a few tattooers that aren't tattooed. However it is considered to be strange within the industry to not be tattooed, while you're tattooing people. It also helps to know what it actually feels like to be tattooed, and go through the process, from consultation all the way through the healing process. You won't be ostracized or blackballed from the industry, so there's no need to lie about being allergic or having some type of skin or health condition, just saying you don't want to be tattooed is sufficient enough.
>>7724616alright thank you very much for the answer! With the increase in popularity of tattoos, it seems this is one of the few good reliable options left for artists these days
>>7724354yes but I get a rash whenever I come into contact with most inks :( including newspapers and printers.
>>7724354>tattoo artists>therapistsBoth are useless.
>>7724499tattoos have been around for thousands of years
I really dislike how common tattoos are nowadays. Also I genuinely can't think of anything I would want on my body forever.
>>7724502Yea but if people start noticing a pattern they'll post it on social media and try to get your business banned.
>>7724682Yea tats used to be rebellious. And most people that got tats got like one or two that they'd cover up anyways. Now everyone looks like a middle schooler's desk. People don't even have taste when they get tattoos, they all just end up looking like idubbbz.
>>7724675a great many degenerate things have been around It's strange how some primitive anachronisms come back as civilization declines (of the latter I am actually a fan. Back to monke!)
>>7724502unless they are gay (as all tattooed people are). Then you have to serve them
>>7724502In practice, you can't turn down much work, especially in the early years, you're not some superstar that people beg to be tattooed by
Yeah but then I would secretly resent every one of my clients for scarring their bodies.Unless they fags or something, then I would encourage tattoos, but hate having to touch them.Catch 22
