Do artists get their motivation from commissions? Money was sometimes a source of motivation for me until I started hating people. How do you find motivation if drawing isn't rewarding anymore?(Pic unrelated)

>>7727698Glad to see Silicon Prompt Engineering will soon exterminate this meatbag nonsense.
>>7727703that's my exact reaction as soon as i saw this thread
>>7727698>$200-$250 for a generic pinup that any AI could shit out for free, in secondsNot trying to crab, I'm genuinely surprised if this guy gets more than 1 or 2 commissions a month.
>>7727776>the closer the comm is to my artstyle, the better the chance you have of getting pickedit's already AI. Why else would it have to be close?
>>7727968Generally you only have rates like these when you keep filling your slots the moment they open or you really don't want to do them.Baalbuddy does that, for example, his very high rates mean he thinks your idea is retarded and he'd rather put his balls in a lawnmower than draw it, not necessarily that he thinks his work is worth that much.
>>7727968then use AI
>>7727698look at those lines in the hair and between the fingers, look at that bg, these are literally a.i.
>>7727698-NO mecha/vehicles/gunswhat a rip-off, so commissions will be accepted except for some details that the a*tist is incapable off makingAND YOU GET CHARGED $300 FOR IT!!!THANK GOD A.I. EXSIST TO DUNK ON THESE SCAMMERS
>>7728016ok now generate her drinking a milkshake while shooting zakos above the stratosphere
Why waste 10 gallons of water to generate some shitty picture when you can get the same shitty picture in ms paint in 1 minute for free? It's even handcrafted so it mogs any slop
They get more than 5 commissions a month
>>7728023I really really like this image. I didn't know how badly Yui on a Gundam rocks
>>7728016the more i look at this the more i find it revolting>>7728023the more i look at this the funnier it gets
>>7727698why do you even hate people now? that's my only question in all of this.
>>7727698what is artists problem with mecha?
>>7728067Try to draw this and you'll see.
>>7728070It's all just rectangles and boxesRobots are easier to draw than humans
>>7728070some of the OCs people come to me with are way more complex....
>>7728073Draw it then if its so easy.
>>7728074How do you market that youre willing to do OC stuff? Do you put "OCs welcomed" in your ToS? Is the money worth the autism?
>>77280755 minutestake it or fuck off
>>7728023I know this image is just for a laugh but I always wondered why AI bros insist on this being the thing that kills artists when even of 4chan Ive seen decent photoshops and edits that are on par with actual drawings, or at least scratch the itch of what I want. AI really is just a waste of time
>>7728084Yaoi Hand Mode
>>7728084Lacks appeal
>>7728023Masterpiece.
>>7728084I have to admit, you sure have some steel-hard guts to post your work and get bombarded by >>7728190 >>7728200I hope you know now why most artist here don't post their work, and why we avoid this hell hole of the internetjust keep drawing, you have great potential
>>7728246I don't consider that my "work", that's a scribble. The point is that robots are boxes. They only look like magic to the layman.
>>7728269scribble or not, it still holds value as I see itit looks more like of a concept art for some videogame that you madeunfortunately, lots of idiots here just throw slurs and insults at each other than actual constructive critic, then there are those who cant handle critic and thing they made perfection at first try than understanding this kind of profession invest in time and effort than bitching here in /ic/ just see art as it is"a personal hobby not a profit, AI generate or hand made"
>>7728084Now the problem is that a commissioner would rightfully shit and piss themselves if you omitted a single detail of the original design
>>7728067Mecha is interesting, if you've never drawn it before it takes awhile to get it just right, it has its own visual language and styles. And trying to get your brain to come up with mechanical shit to fill in the blanks between the shapes you made can be difficult. You can easily end up spending over 10 hours trying to draw good mecha and then it becomes not financially worth it.
so...what are mecha commissions actually like?? What do the buyers ask for specifically? What's their equivalent of the "MAKE IT BIGGER" ?
>>7728066It should be obvious why I hate people. Just look at the thread, nobody answered my question in the OP.
>>7728023>waste 10 gallons of waterWhere did this meme come from?
>>7728406MORE ROCKETS
Money can be a good motivator for drawing, at least initially. However, if you don't need the money, you'll soon become distracted by other things. On the other hand, if you do need the money, it will quickly go from being a motivation to an obligation. In my experience, it's easy to develop a dislike for people after working on commissions for a long time. Some people don't know what they want, expecting you to magically read their minds and produce the desired result. If you're looking for motivation, try remembering what motivated you to draw in the first place, and try recapturing that feeling. Another option is to doodle without worrying. You might accidentally come up with something that rekindles your passion.
>>7728406mech artist here, i have fuck you rates for robots because of how the clients are ($300-500)they love obsessing over details like seething that the rectangle isn't sharp enough
>>7727776Any day now for sure, right?
>>7728077>OCsThat's what 99% of your clients want. The 1% that want popular characters are out to scam you for fun.
>>7728502So...doesn't seem to be worth it then
>>7728548Yes, everything you're incapable of doing isn't worth doing
>>7728447the big computers from big data corps like google running ai scripts consume lots of waters for cooling
>>7727968I run a server full of commissioners with some artists and some of these people will joyfully get $60 /beg/ tier commissions back-to-back instead of paying $20 p/mo for unlimited gens. It's just not the same market.
>>7728625>$20 p/mo for unlimited gensWhen I gave SD a try a year ago out of curiosity, it was free, did something change?
>>7728023Soul
>>7728502No offense but pyw, I'm so tired of larping on this board >le I don't wanna be linked to this place! meme
>>7728626Maybe SD is free still but most slop machines hook people in on launch for free then start barring behind paywalls.SD diffusion requires installing things roo so there's a brainlet barrier too (me) (also most comission fags (i expect)).
>>7728084That's so bad you owe us money
>>7728084TRANS FORMERS, MORE THAN MEETS THE AIEEEEEE
>>7727968price is not really that insane...you're too used to 3rd world Phillipino savant prices
>>7727968You dont understand, they are not in the market of generic pinup slop.People pay some artists good money because they want THEIR works specifically.
>>7727698>250 bucks for animu grillThat's cool and some people do get commissioned regularly. I've done commissions and it's okay but even with those prices is too much work and too little pay, I'd rather do some illustrations throughout the month and try sell them online somehow.
>>7727968the client likes being part of the experience, anon
>>7728016 shity soulless ai slop -_->>7728023 kino ms paint People hating on AI aren’t completely wrong. People are naturally lazy, they don’t want to work hard, learn, or improve. They have no standards and don’t care about mediocrity. Look at how we call any crappy illustration “art.”Why even bother trying to bring your “idea” into the real world if it’s just going to look like garbage? At least if you keep it in your head, it doesn’t have to look like trash you didn’t even make yourself...
>>7728023Unironically goes hard
>>7727968>The only thing that matters is moneyThat same mentality is why most media fucking sucks dick, the shareholder mentality.
>>7728495Just adapt this mentality and dialogue when dealing with clients. They come for you because they like what you produce.
