I miss Elfwood, bros. For those who don't know, it was a fantasy and science-fiction art community that was killed by DeviantArt. I found some of my favorite artists on Elfwood.

>>7729133Interesting, this is my first time hearing about it. I'm curious - would creating art websites dedicated to specific communities be the solution to the social media problem we have now? Anime artists already have Pixiv. Furries already have Furaffinity. Artstation (used to have) industry artists and people trying to build a portfolio. But with social media everyone is forced to be in the same space with other artists who have nothing in common with each other.
>>7729326I guess in theory yes, but hard to say would it actually work in practice. I would bet, or at least I hope, that there are some communities around more nische subjects even in the modern internet, but finding them is nigh impossible if you don't already know what you're looking for. I imagine one could start a platform dedicated to say, fantasy and sci-fi art, it's just that finding a balance between getting enough traffic to the site to keep it from dying and gatekeeping the content so it doesn't turn into another normie infested slop feed is tricky. One possibility could be to start a community in one of the existing platforms like dA, and move to an independent site once the following is large enough, but the risk of everything eventually devolving into circle jerking and internet drama is high. I suppose that is to be expected in this day and age that this shit is unavoidable, but maybe the experiment could bring together enough people genuinely interested in the subject that they could keep the hobby alive outside the social media clusterfuck.
Jesus christ Elfwood. Have fun waiting 6 weeks before your uploads were approved by the jannies. Also if you googled your name your cringe ass gallery with art from when you were 16 was surely among the first few hits. Good riddance.
>>7729133Same, miss it so bad. Lots of the work was garbage, but it was still far more comfy than the endless scrolling autogenerated bullshit we're apparently stuck with today.Hell, at this point I even miss old DeviantArt. The new version is garbage and unusable.
Yeah, it rocked. I made a lot of friends there but over the years we drifted apart solely because of the way social media functions now. There needs to be a new portfolio site that isn’t artstation but also filters out AI/anime trash
>>7730117>isn’t artstation but also filters out AI/anime trashTegaki. But the reboot isn’t anything like the original, and even the latest version has been down since earlier this year.
>>7729133Don't worry, tons of other sites and communities fucking died. the only thing comparable now is some weirdo Discord server we'll never know existed. The internet is just not the thing it used to be
