The Old Masters are revered for their paintings, but this thread is to appreciate their drawings. Here is Rembrandt's "The Actor Willem Ruyter as St. Augustine" (c. 1638).
Surely there is a good collection of these drawings? Like as image files, pdfs, actual books, etc. Do you guys recommend any?
>>7730988Pretty sure in the /ic/ torrent there is an image collection of these ancient master drawings.
many of Rembrandt's etchings are available on Google Art & Culture: https://artsandculture.google.com/entity/rembrandt/m0bskv2where you can also find many other high-quality reproductions, from a wide variety of artists.there was at some point a cache with gigabits of old drawings and paintings somewhere, not sure where it is. as far as books are concerned, the difficulty is to find ones with good quality reproductions. look for books made by artists, museum staff and the like.don't forget that collecting thousands of drawings won't make you good. carefully study OP's drawing for a few hours on the other hand, would benefit you greatly
>>7731410Trying to copy Old Master drawings is a good idea as well. A very humbling experience.

>>7731790I don't like posting my stuff here, /ic/ is not exactly something you're proud to visit. there's so much garbage around here>>7730988thinking about it, I saw a few books in local shops. but wouldn't recommend buying them for studying. most of those drawing are sketches, or preliminary works. they have value, but are generally sub-efficient for learning purposes
