What do when partner hates or is unsupportive of your work?

I typically am reserved and don't bring up my art shit to my partner, since they've expressed they're not a fan. Today, I said I might consider making a print of my work to put up above my desk (in my area), and the response was a scoff.
>>
>>7732225
That is a HUGE red flag, Anon. What the hell?
>>
>>7732225
Murder and paint with their blood. What else?
>>
>>7732225
Honestly man, post your work. If it's like some inflation cock vore fetish thing, I can understand most people not loving the idea of that print being up on a shared wall. Otherwise yeah maybe time for an adult conversation about respecting hobbies and creative expression.
>>
>partner
>they
you have aids
>>
>>7732225
someone can not be a fan of your work while still being supportive, ur gay partner is just an asshole
>>
Assuming you mean unsupportive and not giving sincere criticism, usually it just means they don't like your art in general, and if that's the case there isn't anything you can do for them just ignore it and don't show them your art.
>>
>>7732257
So just keep doing what I already do, that makes sense (I am not being ironic, it's what's worked so far).

>>7732239
I would prefer to not do that. I may not be popular but I'd rather not become associated with being "that artist whose partner hates their stuff".
>>
>>7732225
>the response was a scoff.
That would indicate that they don't respect you. Why would you stay with someone like that?
>>
>>7732300
This. Break up with that person or speak your mind to them. If they continue to treat you shitty after you air your grievances, leave. They don’t deserve you.
>>
>>7732266
Describe your work instead, then.
>>
>>7732225
depends on if its deserved. if its gooner shit then you shouldnt be suprised you get dumped one day. if its like political then tough shit. maybe you just suck and they want you to not even bother because you cant get any better
>>
>>7732371
Political works suck ass, good or not.
>>
>>7732225
you're drawing furry porn, aren't you?

>>7732225
I am a loner, but this is maybe worse...

Anon if I was in a relationship with someone and they openly scoffed at my work or hobbies, then I would immediately cease being in a relationship with that person. Simple as.
>>
>>7732225
>the response was a scoff.
How so? It could have simply been a misunderstanding on your end.
Like rather than scoffing because she thinks lowly of your work, she may have scoffed because she just found the idea of someone hanging up a poster of their own work silly or pretentious.

It's fine for her to hate your work, it's all subjective and relates to people's personal tastes unfortunately, but if she's looking down on your hobbies/work to the point that she treats the craft/labor and the enjoyment of the medium as a joke, you might need to have a serious discussion with her; this is something you're passionate about, to the point where it is simply unacceptable for her to act so dismissive of it.

Artists are lonely people.
History teaches this again and again and again.
There are a few rare expectations, but the majority of artists live solitary lives.
But you already knew this anon

Why would you print your own piece and put it up in display? Isn't it your fans' job to do?

Anyways, I take it you are drawing some erotica. And you and your partner are having some sort of sexual relationship. So what you are doing is wanting to put on display your personal fantasy that your partner might feel jealousy of because reality can't match the fantasy.

The way your partner communicates is indeed rude. But your actions and plans are just as inconsiderate.
>>
>>7732225
I will never have this problem :)

My wife keeps saying I should print and hang my art but I told her I don't want to see my own art on the walls. I rather see my fav artists' works.
>>
nah my wife's my biggest fan. get a better partner bro
>>
>>7732225
homosexual relationships are unfortunately often abusive like that
>>
>>7732225
Imagine putting the feelings of some cunt above your own passions. Jesus Christ have some self-respect and remove this creature from your life
>>
>>7735881
Wait is there something wrong with hanging out your own work? If you are proud of a piece then I don't see why you wouldn't want to look at it repeatedly.
>>
>>7736039
I have looked at my stuff enough when working on them. I rather look at someone else's work.
>>
My girlfriend is supportive. Even indulges some niche stuff I like.
>>
>>7735892
I get you, I'd much rather look at other people's work too, but there's also something to be said about truly customising your interior with work made specifically for your walls, by you.
>>
>>7736072
Cuck mentality.
>>
>>7736117
Your work is for your eyes only, I get it.
>>
>>7736121
Your work is an extension of your dick. Having other people print and hang your work is dominating their spaces by proxy. Conversely, putting someone else's work on your wall is inviting them to fuck your eyepussy, so to speak.
>>
>>7736124
I rather have sex with others than just with myself
>>
>>7736126
I would rather fap than have some dude fuck me in the ass but I guess to each their own.

It's cool. I've been exposed to russians online and i found out 99% their culture and what they talk about is fucking other men in the ass.

Artists should gatekeep normies like OP true artists are borderline insane and no sane person would date us, unless they're an artist too, so either break up with your sugar daddy or give up on art unless you're a biological man, in that case just break up with that leech and focus on your craft, art like a true male artist or marry a female artist if you're lucky.
