is there much benefit to learning the manga "style" if you already study realism? like, does drawing manga help with mastering fundies?
I'm so tired of anime threads bros. The only reason you'd want to draw anime is if you want to get good at drawing anime. What are your goals?
>>7733238>a third evw thread has hit /ic/ this weekend
>>7733238do you like anime?
>>7733238The only distinctive feature of manga and anime are the faces, just learn normal cartoonistry and apply anime faces to it.
>>7733238Manga and stylization in general is good for learning design: shape, abstraction, simplification namely. Beyond that, anime and cartoons require strong form understanding so you know how forms modify according to spatial positioning. It also helps with invention which is a pretty nice skill to have, in life drawing sessions, you can rely on this knowledge to deal with hidden areas or to draw when the model takes a break or leaves.
>>7733238You'll never be Japanese, nigger..
>>7733238Why do you want to learn to draw something that's being absorbed by AI and leaving millions of Asians unemployed? Are you retarded?
>>7733330>absorbed by AI and leaving millions of Asians unemployedProofs?
>>7733238>is it worth making my drawings appealing to human beings
>>7733238All these "learn how to draw manga" books are made by westerners and not japs. I saw some in my local book store and all the "anime" characters were black people in a knock off anime artstyle

>>7733350>>7733353All this will do is create a premium Human-made market that will command outrageous prices as the skillset disappears from the worldSame thing happened once furniture and clothing became mass-manufactured, and when oil portrait painting became a rarity with the invention of the camera. Someone who can hand-craft an anime or comic will be commissioned for millions by richfags who want a premium one of a kind work that no AI model has been trained on.
>>7733238If you like the eyes go for it. Other than that the lineweight is the only other thing to study
>>7733350>>7733353Seems like heavy speculation. It's been five years now and there still hasn't been mass swaths of Japanese artists losing their jobs to ai, and no one gives a flying fuck about Chinese slop. This isn't even taking in consideration the manga market.
>>7733362>All this will do is create a premium Human-made market that will command outrageous prices as the skillset disappears from the world>Someone who can hand-craft an anime or comic will be commissioned for millions by richfags who want a premium one of a kind work that no AI model has been trained on.You dont really believe this, right.
>>7733378People said the camera would replace artists. Instead it lead to more creative, stylized works. If anything it made artists more valuable because realism became more boring and common to the masses.
>>7733373If anything it'll just shift things a bit rather than making artists obsolete like AIjeets think it will. iirc spiderverse movie animators used AI to speed up their workflow but still had a massive crew, and I can see something similar happening in anime studios if it hasn't already
>>7733346that's the best part of those books for me, that they're not manga art and can never teach you how to make manga art but still trying to sell themselves as manga art and seeing the artist with a clearly westernized style having to try and depict anime without really having a true understanding of it.
>it's Western, therefore it can't teach you animeDoes everyone on 4chan believe East Asians are magical beings?
>>7733510no, but you cannot deny that even the weebs that make how to draw manga books have western influences embeded in them from tumblr or deviantart depending on how far back it was made
>>7733508
>>7733510YesTop art is by the show's creatorBottom art is by the SK company who employed underpaid East Asians to animate the show.
>>7733513You're not an animator, you're not a magaka, you're not Japanese, you're not relevant to anyone, you defend a drawing style that you can't replicate or even make a profit from, you're just a filthy otraku.
>>7733258
>>7733538damn, better get started on my how to draw manga book then
>>7733631>perfect bodies>not a feral plaphog on the coverGrim
>>7733631that's not anime
>>7733588>massive cope spamming citationless image where the anime characters face is literally a emoticon with hairnobody is buying it
>>7733588basado. They will never get it because they're blind
Does ne1 else le kawaii anime? *Holds up spork, eats Pocky*
>>7733244There's no other artistic tradition alive today.
>>7733588god this quote is being misappropriated so hard by one fucker forcing it and i'll be honest with you chat, it's really grinding my gears>As you look at various things and purchase various knowledge, you will gradually grow. As you grow, your level of expression also increases. The "3-Month Improvement Method" is a way to forcibly shorten that period and raise the resolution level of your perception all at once. ■ Fo rc i n g t h e re s o l u t i o n u p>By focusing on a single picture for that period, the goal is to increase the resolution by paying careful attention to minor differences that would normally be overlooked.>To be honest, I don't think you will be able to tell the difference at first. You may even think, "If his pictures sell, why can't my pictures sell too? And yet, still, slowly, carefully... "What's so different... there must be some difference... maybe it's the eyes, maybe it's the hair... where is it? " And when you compare them thoroughly and come close to them, you will raise the resolution of your perception as if you are forcing a hole to widen.>As the resolution of your perception increases, you w i l l temporarily fall into a slump. It's no wonder that your eyes only become more discerning and your skills are unable to keep up. Once you are in this state, you can practice to catching with your technique and get out of the slump. This 3-Month Improvement Method is a super stoic act of forcing yourself into a slump, forcing yourself out of it, and then forcing yourself into a slump, and out of it again. Therefore, as anyone who has tried this method even for one round can tell you, it can be quite painful, with only a great sense of discomfort throughout the practice. I'm sure that many of you who have done this have thought about this along the way. "I want to use a lot of people as references, not just one person!" .

>>7733940>>7733961I am kneeling so hard right now brothers. The West will be free. President Trump will sign an executive order to make Calarts and other low res slop illegal.
>>7733973>continues to refer to a google docs page anon wrote himself in hopes to convince retards who dont check the sourceyou suck
>>7733988Is there a way for him to take credit for that? Because he'd only do it just so he could take credit for everything
>>7733384cope.Next you tell me AI will create more and better jobs. The you tell me the Luddites were wrong and being a weaver sucked.Everything goes to shit
>>7733238Probably to do something like this>>7733508>>7733631>>7733755>>7733588Show me the light and recommend me some good "how to draw manga" books.
>>7734508tfw I will never have a gf with nice boobs or a nice body. I will never experience the touch of true beauty. But perhaps I can one day draw it.
>>7734635Sexbots, genius. Infinite stamina. Infinite eagerness. Infinite flexibility. Infinite understanding of your body and preferences.
>>7734635it gets boring after a month
>>7734640my grandma used to say "they is only so many ways you can spit them pigs"
>>7734324Until it actually happens I don't see how it's cope.
>>7734246oh no no no westbros, how are we going to recover? we are getting called out, mogged on and dabbed on by Saito
>>7734691Agreed.
>>7734508who drew this?
>>7733238I tried a dip pen with a G nib this week and it's harder than it looks.
>>7735987Not sure I just got it here. One of the reasons I want a good Manga draw book
zoomers are fucking retards, just stop drawing dude it's ok.
>>7736058You have to tap away the ink after every dip and only do like one or two strokes per dip. Very time-consuming.

>>7737762this is just tasteless
>>7738661it's actually mouthwashing
>>7738661it looks great what are u smoking
>>7738893anon, you desperately need to refine your aesthetics. this looks so generic and unoriginal
>>7739631
>>7733988>Bros, our sigmalord will ban everything I hate and give me everything I want, that's totally where the money is, trustAdvertisers have been shitting up my city with AI posters on every fucking busstop, I'd rather they go back to low res slop.
I think people like manga because it's just easier to draw, not because it looks better.
>>7741143>easier to drawThen why do so many westerners fail at it?
>>7741205But many more succeeded? Gaijin has been drawing anime-style for decades now. You just focus on lazy grifters influencers.
>>7741218Not aware of any Gaijin who have succeeded at the anime style in any meaningful sense.
>>7734324Don't know, anon. I've even seen normies with AI fatique, and if it becomes a ubiquitous element of society it will probably change art in unforeseen ways (camera in the 19th century as a comparison.) There's a genuine argument to be made for the human made in an era of the artificial. Like in the upcoming couple of years it will probably spawn a lot of differgent, expressionistic art styles with a focus on "soul", and the skill of drawing and making art will attain an "athletic" quality to it, in the sense that the act of devoting oneself to be the best artist will come to be more valued, because in a world were you can get every kind of image with a click of a botton, the process of how that image is created will become a mark of distinction if it's done by the human hand. To have a painting on your wall or to read a comic made by human hands will celebrate the artist as much as the product in it of itself, a sort of "revival of the author", if you would.Perhaps it's cope, but it's still too late to say for sure. Also AI art is fucking boring.
>>7742454I find it beautiful.
>>7734508anyone?
>>7742454If that happens you better bet that it will be first world only thing.
>>7733238Is that book actually helpful?
>>7737762>>7738893looks like a generic ai drawing
>>7745732Is useful enough, it has tips and some other things like that, but it won't teach you how to do it step by step. It is more useful for people that knows a little on how to draw already. I still liked it. But for learning how to draw in anime/manga there are better books that shows step by step and are more handholdy.
>>7733533Top one looks Bondocks like, bottom ones look like oldschool Ghibli, particularly the last three in the corner.
>>7734639how long does he have to wait for that you stupid fuck. its never coming within our lifetimes, faggot gen alpha chuds will get to fuck robots while we die having missed out on the true fruits of the technology age
>>7741143if it doesn't look better, then why haven't comics from other countries wiped out manga yet in popularity?
>>7745827Got any books to recommend then?Only one way to find out if one is better at learning through books.
>>7746333The first book I used was The Complete Guide to Drawing Manga & Anime by Date Naoto. Is very handholdy, I do take my time with it and I don't really follow the learn in 90 days thing. And Master Manga Drawing Techniques by KawaiiSensei. Both of them are pretty similar but I prefer Date Naoto instead since his book is formatted a bit better.
I learned many things.
I don't usually draw anime stuff but I drew this megaman yesterday
>>7746352Thank you anon. I’ll give those a shot at seeing whether I’m a better learner through books.Any YouTubers to recommend by chance?
>>7751314Looks very Astro Boy.Now draw him in a non anime way like you usually do.
>12 year old me in 1999 walking to the art instruction section of Borders to look at all the tiddies in the How To Draw Manga books
>>7733389>iirc spiderverse movie animators used AI to speed up their workflow As if that nigger-pandering slop couldn't be more pathetic. Hahaha the western animation industry is excrement.
>>7733533Jesus Christ... westerners can't create anything remotely good, can they? It's like a curse or something
>>7751378These are the only ones I follow for now but MickeyMegaMega I think is called is very good for learning body parts and has an extremely good foundation on 3D forms.https://www.youtube.com/@saitonaoki2https://www.youtube.com/@hidechannel2https://www.youtube.com/@ChommangTry to finish what you have and don't go searching for many resources, I tend to stick to 1 or 2 instead and finish them then move on to the next. You got this anon, good luck!
>>7752269>checked this thread again at the right timeThank you for the links, anon!Is it a better practice to study drawing realistic body proportions before getting into anime or are these Youtube channels good for somebody who is just starting out in drawing in general?
>>7752271Study both, the books have the semi/realistic version and then goes into anime. That's what I've been doing. But just get into just drawing whatever you want first and following the materials. Worry about what happens next later.
>>7752280Alright thanks!
>>7733961Tranime fags are so fucking ignorant. It's better for the rest of us, your coomer low IQ brains are unable to grasp the traditional western fundamentals of art.
>>7751835All the great artists we had are either old as fuck or dead.
>>7751835Art tutorials are such a depressing grift these days
