Guys do you have any advice on how to draw mediocre looking women? I can handle making people ugly or pretty but there is no advice on how to make them look average.
Just trace ur mum
>>7734998Brother cmon pls
Take a pretty woman. Give them freckles, glasses, and frizzy hair. Now make them chunky and lower the cheekbones. Make the eyes *very slightly* asymmetrical. Make the mouth likewise. Make the lips a bit thin. There you go.
>>7735021These things would just turn her Jewish instead. I want to make an asian unattractive woman. Also, glasses are just too generic in my opinion
>>7735026Hmmm an unattractive Asian is tough because mayoid males see them all as attractive, but you could just chunk her up and give her a big nose.
>>7734997I would say look up references, but have you considered that the average face might just look pretty good by itself when conveyed in drawing?
>>7735033The average of the population looks good because all the errors iron out. However, individuals within the population looks kinda ugly because of said errors.
>>7734997This very much depends on what style you're drawing in.
>>7735026Find regular Japanese people that aren't celebrities or dolled up in makeup or plastic surgery. The Aku no Hana anime was great for this since it was rotoscope animation, showing more authentic Japanese high schoolers rather than the moeslop we're conditioned to seeing all the time.
>>7735029>>7735033Yeah I know that. But I already made her nose as big as I could without breaking the anatomy and making her jaw more angular would turn her into a trans woman. I tried to make her hair look greasy and unkept too. Would adding more wrinkles or nasolabial folds work too?
>>7735045I forgot about the nasolabial folds. That's good. Perfect visual sledgehammer for a face.
>>7734997I feel like the more realistic detail you add, the uglier a character looks. Things like cheek creases (the ones from the sides of the nose down to the sides of the jaw), overdetailed philtrum, excessive detail on upper/lower eyelid, pinching on the sides of the eyes, etc. Unappealing head shapes can also help. If you look at more exaggerated/cartoony anime (say, Crayon Shin Chan, or Detective Conan), whenever they want an uggo their faces are very misshapen compared to the main cast, they'll be elongated, have massive noses, sunken cheeks/T-shaped head, fat cheeks with thin forehead, uneven facial feature distribution, etc.
>>7734997 You have an obsession with Asians, draw a plate with two eyes and that's it, retard.
>>7735033They are all the same, the only thing that changes is the name of country.
>>7735046>>7735050Ok I implemented the changed that anons have recommended but it just made her look like an old lady instead.
>>7735099You're actually a decent draftsman, so I'm surprised you find this challenging. But yeah, that is pretty much what mid people look like in a line drawing: old.
>>7735099nah you got a nice medium, now she looks like a disgusting creep
>>7735112>>7735111Man maybe some things are out of reach for me. Perhaps making cute but unpopular girls is impossible in a lineart
>>7735099it's all about fat distribution and positioning of features, do not add wrinkles, literally trace an average woman's face and then copy the proportions measuring carefully paying attention to fat spots, repeat until you can do it on your own
>>7734997make her fat
>>7735099Removing the wrinkles and some definition will reveal to you that she's still fundamentally photogenic. Her face is too ideal. Pay attention to these >>7735037 >>7735043.
>>7735043One of my fave manga ever. I couldn't watch the anime. Not a fan of rotoscoping.
>>7735228I stopped reading around the part they take the bicycle over the mountain and it rains, does it get better?
>>7735325I loved the whole thing. "Happiness" by the same author is also very good. Both left me feeling wistful.
>>7735099For wrinkles on young people, you only need to add a slight indication of the wrinkle, otherwise it'll make them look old. I think you should also make her face less angular because women don't usually have that much bone definition in their faces, and then you can make her jaw wider without making her look like a man. >>7735225>Removing the stuff that made her look ugly makes her look prettierShocking
>>7735476What that anon means is that her face shape, bone structure, proportions, etc. are still more ideal than not.
>>7735514I know what he means, but you can still take someone with an overall good facial structure and add some subtle bad features like wrinkles and a big nose and they will go from looking attractive to average. The OP asked how to draw average people, not ugly ones
Just draw tokaku
just draw two women, one very attractive to you that you can draw at your current skill, another woman that is less attractive than your attractive woman. At least this way you get self evaluation on what your personal standards AND you drew to types of woman.
>>7735514I mean, isn't that the nature of facelifts?
