How do you have fun while drawing/doodling? I just stare at a blank page for five minutes, not sure what I want to draw, finally draw a shitty face I dislike and then go back to watching dumb shit on youtube
Sounds like you don't like drawing, so why are drawing? This is a serious question.
>>7735076I guess it's because I want to be a good artist and make cute characters. I'm not sure if I love the process. Maybe I just love the idea. But going by this board a lot of actual artists hate fucking drawing and do it solely for the improvements to get to a good end result. Idk.
>>7735081Fwiw, I think it's dumb to do stuff just for end results. If you don't like the process, my honest counsel is to either find a way to like the process (or at least not hate it) or find something where you enjoy the process and like the end result.
because you are dopamine poisoned/distracted. you dont give yourself a real chance to completely commit your brain to drawing and focus. you need to find a way to get "into the zone", wether that is through meditation (i.e. just sit there for a bit before drawing, without staring at a screen or being otherwise distracted), some kind of calm music that helps you focus, etc. it also helps to draw at a time during the day when you don't have big to-dos ahead of you and can fully be in the moment without having some other tasks in the back of your mind. just some pointers. but i dont think its necessarily that you dont enjoy drawing as the other guy said, but that you could replace drawing with anything that takes any amount of effort (and therefore focus), and it wouldn't work out because you just put in the least amount of effort to still pretend to yourself you "did some drawing" so you can get back to your currently preferred distraction (watching youtube).
>>7735070Draw what you see. Rotate it in your head. Draw what's in your head. Rinse and repeat.
>>7735070I copy random things I like, eventually an idea will comethere's no point trying to force it imo
>>7735070>How do you have fun while drawing/doodling?You create things from scratch. It's fun seeing the drawing take shape. You just have to enjoy creating 3d models on paper. It's also fun working with sharp tools. Drawing is fun because you can work with so much precision and create tones and value with it.I like comparing drawing to playing vidoegames. Playing videogames also can be fun, but you are massively limited when playing games. You are always just playing the dream of other people, while when you draw you can create your own dream and have unlimited freedom.
>>7735081>Maybe I just love the ideaI have a cure for this. What you need is lots of unfinished pieces sufficiently on display around you. This way, you'll have the artist aesthetic to enjoy even if you finish a drawing. If you only have one piece in the process at a time, and the thing you like is the artist aesthetic, then finishing that one piece will take the ideal away from you. You stop being an artist when your work is done, so you should always have unfinished work to remind you that you are currently in the process that makes you an artist. People who have this motivation are supported well by working with oil paints, because they are forgiving while requiring the taking of breaks, and the works need to be physically present.
If you had all the skill, energy and time in the world, what would you draw?
>>7735070I doodle to find poses and situations that I like enough to make a finished piece on PC.Have you tried painting ? I hate drawing but I find painting a lot more fun and it gives you feedback a lot faster.I use black and white only using blending brush It's like sculpting.
