James Cameron (director of Titanic, Terminator, Avatar, and Aliens 2) is a fantastic illustrator. Who are some other people with drawing skills that most people don't know about?

he stole most of his ideas, so he clearly isnt a story guy. even visuals and shot setups are straight up just copied in terminator. i mean, he steals well evidently, but its not that impressive. thats why some of his newer produced movies suck ass, cant steal much anymore when youre a big target and liable

A lot of V-tubers can draw for some reason, like Marine, Ui, Ina and Mori.
There's also a bunch of illustrators turned V-tuber but those are just Light Novel guys that quit their dying industry like Ixy.

>>

terminator, his career defining movie is ripped off not just premise and story wise but also visually from the the outer limit episodes written by harlan ellison. just watch the episodes and you can tell instantly why they settled out of court and why harlan got a credit in the end. and dont tell me titanic or avatar are original works. on that topic, Aliens is a boring action movie that just took the first ones script and made it not scary. James Cameron is a certified hack.

Damn very cool, not a fan of this style but I respect this nigga he's awesome

The light novel industry is dying?
>>
>>7737308
James Cameron and Ridley scott are the biggest hacks in the industry imo
But I respect the fact that this guy is an illustrator, pretty cool that obviously helps
>>
>>7737322
That's too easy. Name vtubers who draw but not anime. I vaguely remember one who does bird illustrations or whatever

It's well known that Cameron is a hack, his rise to stardom is built on plagiarism. He's a truck driver that became the biggest money printer in the movie business by ripping-off obscure writers that only sci-fi nerds know about like the one that the other anon mentioned.
His story formula is to plagiarize and, or dumb down other people ideas and put a fuckton of VFX on top of it so the general audience eat it up, pretty colors, explosions and "romance" make them normies feel good.
I do admire James Cameron, his career and life are inspirational, but I'm not gonna pretend that he's good at his job.

The Light Novel industry shrunk to half its size from 2013 to 2023, so it's dying just like Visual Novels.
Manga and Anime grew exponentially in the same period, and they keep growing which is why both industries are facing shortages of manpower, at least that's what Kadokawa says.
My sources are Japanese websites and blogs so maybe that's why a lot of weebs don't know about this stuff yet.
>>
>>7738377
So why are LNs shrinking?
>>
>>7738357
>>7738377
a lot of japanese people can't read kanji btw

manga has furigana on everything, which explains a lot
>>
>>7738686
not him, but i've heard japs talk about how amateur writing in general is dying and nobody writes on the internet like they used to because the industry scoops up any promising writer the second they find him, so maybe it's related

>>7738693
this is also true, they all walk around with little flip electronic dictionaries with special keys for constituent radicals and keep looking up kanji whenever they're reading anything tougher than a cereal box

It's amazing what one can do if they're the rare combination of obscenely rich and not retarded.
>>
>>7738686
It's not just one reason.
>Declining birthrates
>New breakout hits are extremely rare
>Most LN big hits are from early 2010s
>Readers tastes are changing
>Isekai is finally near expiration date
>New LN Writers are out of touch
>Tiktok generation (Japan loves Tiktok)
>Shorter attention span (Tiktok & Shorts)
>Novels in general are on a decline
>Teen boys don't read much (Global)
>Teens prefer manga, anime, webtoons
>Boys are visual so novels are a hard sell
>Girls prefer text but LN are aimed at bois
I could go on but I'd rather spare you the boring details, you have a gist now.

He wasn't born rich. He was literally a truck driver to make ends meet.

He only did that part-time so he could focus on professional illustration (film posters and such), researching film technology at the library, and writing screenplays.

the fact he needed like a proper writing desk and a big ass piece of paper kinda takes away from it

There's less new readers and less new writers, specially young writers, so you end up with millenials and older that have no idea what tiktok boys like to read.
That's a global problem, but it's specially bad in Japan, and it's one of the reasons why so many boomers have no idea why slop like Solo Leveling & Demon Slayer are so popular with Gen Z & Alpha.
If you ask them about their theories, their knee jerk answer is to say "sakuga" or art quality and they're not entirely wrong, but it's not the only reason, you have to do a lot of research beyond the surface to be able to understand why they're such big hits with that demo despite their shallow storytelling, 1D characterization, cliche tropes, etc.
>>
>>7738872
because they're really faggy
>>
>>7737072
The Burne Hogarth style is well executed but what the fuck is that pose lol
>>
>>7738872
What do you think the reason actually is? I know there's not a whole lot going on upstairs with the young folk, but they must have a reason for liking those things.
>>
>>7739590
Because it's a fantasy of leaving a shit world where you have no agency. It's the fantasy of being the kind of person you knew you could be if you really had to opportunity.

Young people used to have an escape plan for the times when the elderly in society held too strongly to power and culture stagnanted. You could say "fuck this shit" join a wagon train west, sail a ship to uncharted waters, trek over those distant mountains and start a new society that didn't fucking suck. GenZ and Alpha are the first generation to have nowhere to run. Even millennials had the computers and the internet until they let that get controlled. Kids have no hope of being anything other than the care tenders to a dying world they never had any say in. What is there other than escapism?

It's a multifaceted issue, but just know that it's not just sakuga, if you give animation on par with Solo Leveling to any other manhwa, they won't be as popular.
Even webtoons by the same art studio like ORV aren't nearly as popular despite a way better story, characters and art on par with it for obvious reasons.
ORV anime won't be as popular either, because unlike Slop Leveling, it's aimed at a more broad audience, it doesn't speak to young men like SL.
I'm pretty sure that ORV is far more popular with women, specially fujoshis, than with young men despite being an action manhwa aimed at them...
I'm not really talking about the real answers because it would be really long but if it helps, it's something to do with why democrats lost young men forever.
>>7739608
This anon is tripping but his answer is valid.
>Peace out
